Ever since the Pilgrims arrived, English has been the dominant language in the United States. Old World immigrants all learned English and assimilated into their host country. Many immigrants still do this, but many also do not because they feel they do not need to do it. All other countries have official languages and do not make special allowances, such as government services in unofficial languages, for immigrants. English should be our national language, so we can have more unity in this country. No more bilingual education or bilingual anything

We need to make English the official language of the USA we need some how to get the people that live in the US that dont speak english require them to learn english in order for them to live here and states need to stop requirering one or two years of forgin language in order for high school students to graduate.

Congress needs to declare English the official language of the US. It's time to put an end to the politically correct philosophy of catering to foreign speaking immigrants, when opportunities to learn English while in this country are virtually unlimited.

I was born in the USA. I've worked in my career for 34 plus years. I have 2-children. I support myself, Father, Mother, Daughter, etc. I have a weird sense to appreciate that this is the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and formerly known as a "melting pot" is quickly (at lightning speed) becoming a "garbage can" where making a living is becoming more difficult and people who should have NO rights, HAVE rights! Make sense? Sorry, not to me. Enough is enough. To hell with politics and let's get back to reality folks or we're going to lose our Freedoms and this Country; We won't need any help from the terrorists to achieve total obliteration. How stupid can we as a powerful force (for now), be?

English has always been the signature of this country. To lose that now to lobbist and those with an agenda to line their own pockets, would open this country to be over run. English is already the common language of those who travel the world.

Most states have already made english the language of that state. I'm tired of going places and seeing spanish writen under english signs. Other immigrants learn english when they got here its time for the Mexicans and other immigrants to do the same. America is losing it idenity.

I live in El Paso, Texas, an American border city. And I am amazed on how much we cater to the illegals coming in. This needs to stop before American customs and values are gone in the border region, or even the rest of the country.

English is the unofficial language of the United States and it should be official. People who do not speak English are at a disadvantage and also cost tax payers money due to different programs designed for people who can not speak English. It is high time people of this country stood up for themselves instead of catering to every person who comes to this country. I wouldn't move to France without speaking French so why move here if you can't speak English?
