We, the fans of the Essence Music Festival, would like the festival returned to its traditional home of New Orleans, Louisiana. Even though the city of Houston was an amiable host of the 2006 festival, the immense sprawl of the city, the lack of a single area in which we could walk the streets and enjoy the food, live music or whatever our hearts desired; the lack of late night eateries, suitable cuisine and the lack of affordable and uncomplicated transportation contributed to an overall feeling of disconnectedness and contributed to the loss of that old familial feeling we had with one another when the festival was in New Orleans.

We, the fans of the Essence Music Festival, thank the citizens of Houston, Texas for opening their homes and hearts for our brothers and sisters that were impacted by Hurricane Katrina but it is time for the festival to go home to New Orleans.
