Evan Tanner was a great fighter. A pioneer. A warrior. I have enjoyed watching him fight since I became a fan of MMA. I sincerely hope that he can become immortal by joining the legends in the UFC Hall of Fame.
I must state that not all former UFC champions are deserving of Hall of Fame status, but Evan Tanners placein the UFC and MMA for that matter is unique. He learned his craft at a time before the "one stop gyms" existed. To learn Jiu Jitsu and some of the other exotic forms of combat grappling one had to make life changing sacrifices like moving across the country and working odd jobs to support ones self because during those early dark times of MMA, it was impossible to make a living at it, sponsorships were paltry or nonexistent. In my opinion, the fighters who persevered through those dark days of MMA and helped develop the sport deserve special consideration for such status. Not only did Evan Tanner survive that era, he became a UFC champion. These are the fighters to whom the UFC and MMA in general owes a debt of gratitude. Dana White and co. can stroke their massive egos by saying they built the UFC and saved MMA but without the warriors like Evan Tanner, the UFC and MMA would not be what it is today.
I support this petition. Evan was a friend for 20 years. Please Dana, listen to the fans, induct Evan. You can't say he doesn't deserve it or you wouldn't eventually induct him anyway. We would just like to see the process expediated.
I support this petition. I never knew Evan but a friend of mine Johnny Hannay was good friends with Evan. Johnny would always speak so highly of Evan's character. Evan will be missed
I support this petition. I began watching UFC right after Evan Tanner became a champion. He was always entertaining and is very deserving of a spot in the UFC Hall of Fame.
I support this petition because Evan Tanner was a big part of mma when it all started to get big. He has beat some awesome fighters and has been in some great brawls. Evan deserves to be inducted into the hall of fame not only because of his great fights but because he never backed down and always had alot of heart
Although Tanner was not always winning matches or fighting in the main event of the night, he was respectful of the sport and helped it grow to what it is today. He will be missed.
I support this petition. Dana White needs to do the right thing, and induct this guy. It shouldn't be done because he died, but because he died before being inducted could happen. He will really be missed. MMA needs more fighters with the heart that Tanner had.

Evan Tanner was a true fighter, he had something alot of new fighters lack. He represented the sport and displayed the honesty of the game as true as a fighter could.
