We shall amass more votes than there are people in the entire living world to make Final Fantasy X into a sweeping Hollywood epic.

The first Final Fantasy movie, The Spirits Within, was a disaster. It has forever tarnished the name of Final Fantasy with the mass audience and snooty film critics because they were forced to sit through a dumb, forgettable movie. Like all video game adaptations, the movie betrayed the true principles of Final Fantasy, principles that I have no knowledge of because I never really even played the Final Fantasy games.

However!!

Final Fantasy X is game with a sumptuous cinematic experience, on par with the grand epics of David Lean and Akira Kurosawa. We just need to get filmmakers from Major Film Studios from the US, Europe or Asia to film the cinematic cut scenes and some of the more compelling game play elements into a real live movie. Games are only as good as their adaptations, and without a good film bearing their name, they are embarrassments because only a minority can appreciate their grandeur.

Think about it.

Final Fantasy X is a real fantasy, not some science fiction claptrap like The Spirits Within. With no computer generated actors, the audience will take the material seriously. We need high caliber talent for the roles of these characters. Preferably American high caliber talent, because America is the number one nation in the entire living world, and no one will take an actor seriously if she or he doesn't speak the English language and doesn't hail from one of 50 states within America.

Exception: Australian, British, and Welsh actors -- as long as they do an American accent.

With highly talented actors to play these complex and charismatic characters, we are half of the way there. Now we need a fantastic director, a nameless screen writer, an army of crew members willing to work for pocket change and also willing to subsist on bowls of rice sprinkled with rotten fish for the sake of budgetary constraints, and companies that excel in making eye-popping, mind-bending special sffects!! We want audiences to go "WHOA!" when they see the first teaser for Final Fantasy X.

The director MUST be American or Hayao Miyazaki. No exceptions. And he needs to be someone who is extraordinary... someone who newspaper critics take seriously. If he (and you know it will be a he, video game adaptations do not make sense without a dude running the show) is someone snobbish critics from New York respect and like, the battle will be won. Audiences will have no choice but to concede to the greatness of Final Fantasy X: The Movie because Oscar caliber actors and critically acclaimed, Oscar caliber filmmakers were responsible for it.

BUT!!

We need to make sure that the filmmakers stay true to the principles of Final Fantasy, and make it a rousing, engaging fantasy that is not ashamed of its origins. In short, we need to make sure the film stays true to the game, and is a film the fans of the game will appreciate the most, at the expense the rest of audience - who may not enjoy it. If Final Fantasy fans are disappointed with the final product, and the audience is not, the entire project is an objective failure, and everyone involved--even the audience--will be righteously belittled and hated upon for centuries. So, whatever artistic aspirations the genius auteur may have for Final Fantasy, they must be downsized, and at times dispensed with, in favor of making a true Final Fantasy product. The filmmakers must remember they have to win the appeal of the Great, Unwashed Masses, the Spiteful, Snobbish Film Critics, and at the same time, make a movie that will be ultimately enjoyed by Final Fantasy fans the most. They are the key audience, and they will not be satisfied with either a product they don't like, or a product they like but no one else does.

One vote will determine all this. Ready? Begin voting any time. The goal is 7 billion or more votes. Whatever many votes Major Film Studios across the world will need to be convinced that Final Fantasy X is a hot product that will sell toys, clothes, food, bed sheets, and whatever other products that a poor family could live off of.

Vote now!

...like right now!

In the mean time I will put down the people I want to participate in this project:

This is getting really boring. Just find some people.

i support this because ffx is one of the most exciting storylines i have ever come across. it has all the right to be a movie. i say you should make it animated like the scenes in the game but also add in some animated battles and other scenes to take place of the gameplay.
