Tuition of schools has steadily skyrocketed to a point of no return. Real incomes of many working classes have remained steady and the amount of money offered through scholarships and grants are not matching the rising costs. Due to the expensive nature of college, many students decide either not to attend or to take out massive amounts of money in the form of loans. They are then placed into debt, so they must work and work after college or even during their educational careers in order to pay off the money they owe. Many people say that the years spent in college are the "best years of one's life". For those in debt, it is a living nightmare.

No one deserves to waste their years in college working to pay off debt. Public colleges in California should be made free and readily available to all those who want to pursue a higher education, without regards to their financial background.

Is it morally justifiable to deny access to higher education to millions of people?

We, the undersigned, say no, and call for the government to assume responsibility for payment of all tuition and fees for all students enrolled at all public educational institutions.
