I wholeheartedly support this petition. The dedicated Firefly fanbase
(a.k.a. Browncoats) have made the impossible, possible from the cancelled
TV series shown on FOX to rise up onto the big screen as a featured film.
If there isn't to be a sequel to Serenity, the Fireflyverse should
continue in a another season shown on a different network. Joss
Whedon's created such a complex and fascinating universe that's
beyond anything else out there, with the blending of genres, captivating
characters and wonderful storylines, it's hard not to love this
beautiful creation of a universe; it's a phenomenal series that should
be recognized for its sheer brilliance. FOX made the mistaken in not caring
for it in the least. However, the fanbase strongly believed in it, as did
Joss, and it keeps growing more and more.

attributed to poor scheduling on the part of the original network. It
wasn't for lack of quality or plot-line. Looking at Joss Whedon's
track record with Buffy and Angel, there is a strong indicator that this

sheer number of available channels on which to watch TV programming, it is
increasingly diffucult to find *worthwhile* shows, ones with:
believable/identifiable characters; a sense of mystery & unpredictablity of
what might happen next and to whom, while at the same time maintaining a
comforatble familiarity that keeps viewers tuned in; excellent writing
combined with outstanding visual effects; a sci-fi show that isn't
entirely over-the-top scientific and a futuristic world not entirely alien
as to make viewers unable to connect.
All of these and more are resaons to consider giving FireFly a second
chance. |
