First of all, before I begin, please only sign the petition if you AGREE with it simply because, the petition is supposed to be a list of people who support an idea. Also, only sign if you have Mr. Chang for Spanish, and actually know what it is like in his class. If you are going to sign it, please do not put a fake name, but either an initial or a full name.

In Canyon Middle School and Castro Valley High, Mr. Chang teaches the class Spanish 1-2. However, not only has he not taught it so the students could easily learn the Spanish language for the first time, he also refused to help those who were confused.

For instance, when we had one of our first tests, we were given several sports and had to name the month and the season they were played in. Not only did he not help us on it, there was only one correct answer for them.

Another time, our homework was to make flashcards for the vocabulary words we had learned. The next class, he marked us all down for doing it "wrong" and not big enough for the back of the room to read it, which isn't the purpose for flashcards.

And if we were supposed to make it big enough, he should've divided the words, since writing fifty-two words huge is a waste of paper if everyone had to write them.

However, another reason why we were upset about the flashcard issue was that he never told us we had to write it big so the back of the room could read it. But in the end, the whole class's name was written down.

Also, on the grades, they don't make any sense at
all. For example, one person didn't any homework at all, but was quiet in class. She recieved an "A+", while someone who did everything, UNDERSTOOD everything, and recieved full marks on tests, but talked in class recieved an "A-" in that class. It was as if Mr. Chang made up the grades on if he liked the student or not.

Mr. Chang also kicks people out of class as if it was a part of the class agenda itself. For instance, the class went to the computer lab to do a spanish activity online. Three of the students, overachievers, finished early so they went to teacherweb.com to check their grades. They were kicked out and their grades were lowered. Later, they found out they were kicked out for talking, which they were doing not loudly, and not even noticeable compared to the rest of the class.

"He's like a dictator.. a ruler who excercises power in a harsh, cruel manner."

The rules and the ways Mr. Chang does things are out of the world. He usually never explains the whole thing in a homework assignment and there is something you are "supposed to do".

"I want a teacher that can actually speak English!"

Many of the students have complained that they couldn't understand anything that Mr. Chang was saying, and that when they ask him what he was saying, he usually ignores them.

"It took me a long time to make the flashcards, but all he did was write on them, tear them up, and write my name down!"

What Mr. Chang does sometimes is innappropriate,
and he shouldn't tear a person's homework up, especially since they did it correctly but it was the teacher's fault he didn't explain the whole homework.

"He is my best knock off class"

Is that ACTUALLY a good thing, especially a Spanish class? Spanish is one of the most important classes, simply because it is a high school class and next year, most of the students are going to take the next level, Spanish 3-4, and they wouldn't be ready for it.

Because of these things, I belive that Mr. Chang should be fired. If you agree, it would be great if you could sign it. Also, even if he doesn't get fired, this would be a chance for the assisstant principals and principal to have proof that Mr. Chang isn't doing a good job of teaching, and he would actually listen (since he obviously doesn't listen to the students).
