As one of many fiercely loyal Detroit sports fans out there, I am a regular reader of the Detroit News Sports section. For the most part, I find the Detroit News to be an excellent source of information and analysis of all things involving sports in Detroit and the state of Michigan. However, there is one writer’s articles who I have always found to be appalling due to the incredibly unintelligent editorials and illogical analysis that this writer consistently puts forth. This writer is Rob Parker and through my conversations with many other fellow Detroit Sports fans I have found that I am not the only one who finds his articles virtually unreadable. Among the unconscionable claims he has made in his writings is the accusation that Hank Aaron, one of this nation’s sports heroes, is a “coward“ for saying he will not attend Barry Bonds record breaking home run game. He has also proclaimed Dave Dombrowski, General Manager of the American League Champion Detroit Tigers, to be a worse GM than Matt Millen of the Detroit Lions. Millen has been the President of the Lions for six years, leading them to a total record during that time of 24-72, worst in the NFL. Meanwhile, Dombrowski has taken the Tigers from a laughingstock to the World Series in just three years. Here is an example of his idiocy in an article that displays Parker’s lack of knowledge about baseball and another attack he made against Dombrowski whom Parker seemingly has a strong dislike for:

Mr. Ilitch, let me guide you on free-agent moves for Tigers

Re: Free-agent spending
Dear Mike:
Now that we, the baseball fans of Detroit, have your word that you will spend some money on free agents this off-season, we'll take the guesswork out of turning around your embarrassing baseball team. We know it's your money, not ours. You won't give a real dollar figure on how much you will spend, but we'll assume it's a lot more than the nothing you spent a year ago. We also know that Dave Dombrowski, your president and general manager, needs help doing his job. It's obvious. So you can give him this as a guide, a shopping list, if you will. Still, Mike, you'll have to take a larger role in running this team, which just set the American League record for losses in a season with 119. You ultimately will have to sign off on any significant deals. Mike, you'll have to get at least three free agents to make this team respectable. And we'll just assume you won't be in the market for the three top prizes out there: shortstop Miguel Tejada and outfielders Gary Sheffield and Vladimir Guerrero. Anything less than a starting pitcher, a second baseman and a power-hitting outfielder and it would indicate you aren't as serious about the Tigers as you are about your beloved Red Wings. First, pitching. You can't win in baseball without it. It has been one of the sore spots with this franchise since you bought it in 1992. Jeremy Bonderman might develop into a No. 1 starter down the road. But he is still more potential than production. Hence, you need to get a real stud to anchor your rotation, a guy who can give you an honest chance to win every fourth or fifth day. First choice is Giants starter Sidney Ponson. It will take $10 million-$12 million a season to land this talented right-hander. It would be worth it, though. A backup plan would be Mariners starter Freddy Garcia, who could be made available. He is only 27 and has had some major success. For help at second base, you could look into Pokey Reese. If the Pirates don't pick up his $5 million option, he would be a nice fit. He can field (two-time Gold Glove winner) and run (at one point in 2002 he stole 18 consecutive bases). He was injured most of this season, but don't be afraid of his poor numbers. A backup is the Astros' Jose Vizcaino. As far as power goes, look into the Royals' Raul Ibanez or Rondell White at $4 million a season. A backup is Reggie Sanders, who could play center field or left field. Not only does he bring a home-run bat and protection in the lineup for other hitters, he also has the experience of winning a World Series with the Diamondbacks. Another backup could be J.D. Drew, a former No. 1 overall draft pick who might be released by the Cardinals. And a big trade? Getting catcher Jason Kendall from the Pirates. He's not only good, but also available. He is owed $8 million next season. Mike, you aren't in a tough spot. You know business as well as anybody. You have to spend money to make money. If you want to fill those empty seats at Comerica Park and bring a little pride back to this once-storied baseball town, follow this guide. You won't be sorry.
Thanks,
Rob Parker

I am creating this petition because I cannot stand Rob Parker as a writer. I do not believe that he should be employed by the Detroit News when so many people find his writings to be completely off-base and, at times, even offensive. Please sign it in an effort to make a point to the Detroit News that they would be better off without the services of Rob Parker.

I support this petition. Rob Parker is a classless idiot for dragging a man's daughter into a press conference. He has been more then controversial, and if he isn't stopped, he'll keep going. He can NOT get away with this.

I support this petition. He reports false news relating to Michigan State University over and over and over again. First it was Paul Davis leaving early for the NBA (he didn't), then it was Izzo not letting Brandon Cotton out of his commitment (he did) and now it's Kirk Cousins being involved in the hockey-football fight (he wasn't). Rob needs to go.
