please don't let the pc brigade spoil our club.i sit around jewish, black and asians as well as a paddy like me.we all have the same goal and that is to pay big money for 90 minutes of entertainment and a release from the cares of the outside world.just ban the illigal ones and let us enjoy our expensive days out.
I never thought the day would come when I find myself opposing a decision made by the Arsenal board but this one is it. It's a sad day when national flags are forced out of the stadium. I cannot imagine how the decision to ban flags was made so hastily without thought for the repercussions and ramifications.
What is the point of ahving a Fans' forum if the club is not going to consult them on matters such as this, which effect the match-day experience? I encourage the club to ask a steward in that block of the ground to ask the person sitting in front of the flag if it is theirs and that there has been a complaint made about them, before asking them to contact a customer services rep at the Club if they have any further questions. Or is that idea too simple?
the ban in the first place was stupid and not completely thought through. it is a matter of respect to be able to show your national colours and i believe that the players would love if someone was showing their nationality colours in the stands.
I really do believe that it is not realistic to ban national or whatever type of flags. In so far as Fottball is a game played based on nationality.
One reason among many why i love Arsenal is the mutinational fan base and plaer base too. We should be able to show this via the flags.
By all means, priority should be gven to all things arsenal in the arsenal stadium, bt am sure that all fans do that without needing legislation to do so. Arsenal have some of the most intelliginet fans i have come accross. They believe in decency, I can tell u that. it shows in other things they do not only in their choice of Arsenal as the team to support.
Yes, there is room for ensuring that people do not go overboard in their support and not unneccesarily abuse others and all that, but this ban would mean Arsenal is also going overboard in their reactions.
A tolerant society is one where individuals embrace others differences. It is not one that hides these differences by banning visual expressions of them.
I do not want to bring a St. Georges Flag to Arsenal games, but why are Arsenal now telling me I can not, we are an ENGLISH Club, This is the club going "PC" Mad
This is so embarrasing. Who makes these decisions? Based on what? The chasm between the everyday fan & the powers that be just go wider, if that's possible.
I think this could be a smokescreen. Could the sponsor's be calling the shots on this topic??? Arsenal Football Club should be proud of the multi-national support it has.
Of all clubs, Arsenal should be the last of them to take such a step. We are a cosmopolitan club, we are an english club, but to supporters overseas, we are, most importantly, Arsenal. To take away a myriad of flags is not what the new stadium needs. We want colour, we want identity, we want an experience. You will be taking a severe chunk of this away.
Leave it out, letting Flags into the stadium National or otherwise will not cause any problems. Let's put a stop to this ludicrous ban and concentrate on getting behind the team. Flags will add to the spectacle of support.
Ridiculous move from AFC, the latest in a line of moves to alienate their supporter base. No standing, no swearing, no fake banknotes, no inflatables, now no flags - stupid.
So, one flag from a state that doesnt formally exist and you ban all flags? And I thought Cyrus was in EUFA competitions. What if someone wore a Cyrus football top.. you going to ban all football tops too? Crazy...
I myself am a gooner and i personally think that is disgusting arsenal get enough criticism with the foreign(Master class)players we have. but now this ban on national flags well it is not going in our favour and i think that national flags should be shown in the stadium maybe it will attract more English players to our club were as if we have no English flags then maybe some people will find that disrespectful and wont want to come to Arsenal(the greatest team in the world).
I think the more national flags the better ! It shows how the fan base is growing and should be seen as a positive aspect. The club should have the national flag flying of every nationality we have on the books !
Banning national flags from the stadium is a bad joke - everybody should be free to show his support for the Arsenal AND his country. This decision damages football fan culture.
I'm a season ticket holder and I feel this is a gross over-reaction which can only be detrimental to the atmosphere at the Grove. WIth all the foreign players we have it's absurd to ban national flags. And why can't we even fly the English flag? Ridiculous.
Completely ridiculous. If people are offended by certain flags don't go to watch our home games, plenty of other people who do not get the opportunity to watch Arsenal will happily go with no complaints.
This "club" is now a complete joke.
I have been going to arsenal, home and away, week in week out since 1992. On the whole i have attended over 280 arsenal matches at home.
Everton was the last game i will ever go to at arsenal under the current conditions. The sanitation of the stadium is nothing short of pathetic.
I dont think this "club" deserves my money. What do we get? I dont care about the football. Id happily go if we were playing in the conference. It is the outrageous behaviour of the stewards that has disgusted me. They are, no doubt, led by senior management, and losing the ability to sing, stand, wear colours etc is quite simply a joke.
Arsenal - you wont get a single penny of my money until this stops.
Total and utter madness, where and when will all this pc rubbish end if were banning national institutions i suppose we will be looking for a new sponsor and stadium name then. no i didnt think so.
I think people who get upset regarding certain flags should be ashame of themselves. This is utterly stupid and imature. Forget history and think about what the future lies ahead. At the end of the day flags are shown around the globe for support and peace and to be recognised. There is no problem with that. the only problem are those who make an issue about it!!!!
