Manchester City fan, resident in Japan, where the flags and banners at J-League games add hugely to the spectacle and atmosphere. Sit down, be quiet, good boys... no thank you!
Man City fan. This is the shape of things to come, I believe they are also banning the flags at Wembley when it opens too!
National identity means nothing in this new world of the PC brigade.
Pathetic decision by the money men trying not to offend any of their supporters groups but alienating the majority - good luck with the campaign to overturn such a poor decision.
Oh dear. Do we not live in a multi-cultural society? Do we not have players in this league from all over the world? Can we not make them feel a little bit more at home by flying their country's flags? This is a silly decision, sledgehammer to crack a nut. One fan complains about another flag, isn't that his/her problem? Or is the real reason that money is talking and advertisers are complaining about their wares being covered up? Come on Arsenal, get behind football supporters, it is we that make the game what it is. MCFC.
Absolutely rediculous. I can think of no set of circumstances in which I would feel offended by the displaying of a flag of any legally regognised nation state in any English football stadium. Good luck with the petition.
this is typical of this left wing politically correct country under this government. Re-instate the flags and imho every public buildind should have the St George cross flying from it. This is England!!
Emirates is a stunning looking stadium but it suffers from being sterile. This will make it even more so, it's ridiculous. My guess is that the space is better "leased" to advertisers who pay really big bucks, not us the loyal fools who support our clubs thru thick and thin. Lets face it, as a City fan, it's mostly thin!
Another Manchester City fan here, shocked and flabbergasted by this decision. Freedom of speech is an important principle and unless someone is deliberately flying a flag to upset or offend others, why shouldn't it be allowed? I hope this ridiculous rule is discarded as soon as possible. Good luck Gooners!
Has the world gone completely mad??
I’ve never heard anything so pathetic in all my life.
For God sake we live in free society – or do we??
What would they do if an England International, or any International match were to be played there??
As a long time fan of Manchester City and the English game, I whole heartedly support the sentiments expressed in this petition. Once again political correctness has reared it's head and if football supporters en mass. don't get behind this, then it is only a matter of time before it becomes the norm. The true spirit of the game is once again under threat.
Good Luck MCFC M/cr
We know the real reason...a wedge was needed to ban the Cross of St. George & the Union Flag...
hint: "Emirates."
Frankly, I think bearers of the follwing names should be banned, whether players, or supporters:
David, Peter, Simon, Stephen, Michael, Timothy, Paul, Jack (John), Adrian, Alexander (a number of Popes) and so on.
What happens if Arsenal ever sign a player from Latin America with the christian name "Jesus"?
Good grief. Wake up and smell the coffee. It is NOT about money.
I AM A MANCHESTER CITY SUPPORTER WHO RUNS THE COUNTY WICKLOW SUPPORTERS CLUB IN IRELAND AND I WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT YOUR PETITION,I AM A GENUINE FOOTBALL FAN AND I WOULD NEVER TAKE OFFENCE TO ANY NATIONAL FLAG AT A GAME UNLESS IT WAS BEING USED TO MAKE A POLITICAL STATEMENT.HOPE TO BE AT THE EMIRATES ON THE 30TH LET THE FLAGS FLY FOR OUR TEAMS.
Yes I do support your action but keep it in perspective. It isn't a time honoured tradition to display flags at football matches, it is indeed a relatively modern thing depending on how long you have been a fan. Leave the politics out of our game - let the fans brighten up our stadiums with the banners and flags of all nations and that includes the Northern Cyprus flag, live and let live.
Good Luck Gooners on this one.
I feel the members of the Board at
Arsenal FC should be hung by the neck
for not allowing
national team flags
or club flags to be flown at Emirates Stadium.
Here in the US it is a common occurance for fans
of all sports to display flags that
support their club
as long as the flag
or banner is not
in any way of the
disrespectful kind.
Paul CTID
if everybody boycotted flying emirates, how soon would mr dein and co reinstall the rite to wave the cross of st george, the union jack and any other flag, sounds like common sense has gone out the window.mcfc supporter
Man City supporter and pleased to add my name to the outcry over yet another crazy decision by the grey men in grey suits who are determined to ruin the game we all love.
A Man City fan. How long before they ban cheering and the banter that goe's with a football match incase it offends anyone. I used to stand on the Kippax as a 12 year old and used to love everything that football was back then (1982). Football nowadays just isnt the same and is only going further away from what it was.
I'm sick of the authorities trying to rid the game of its life. You get a yellow card for celebrating and now banning flags - it's ridiculous. What next, banning club badges?
Will all supporters please remove or cover any logo from clothing if not covered by commercial arrangemets with Arsenal FC.
Could you please leave your opinions, football or otherwise at the door.
And while your at it please dont chant it gives my wife a headache...oh and stop looking shifty my kids might be scared.
MCFC supporter proud to weigh in with support for this issue. Let's keep the game real! Fans are proud! Don't make them hide that! (The old Brown Coventry City kit was offensive, but they weren't made to stop wearing that)
