I think sometimes we need to use a bit of common sense. Please let us not follow the same path as most Local Authorities and large UK corporates, who seem intent on appeasing the minorities at the expense the larger silent majority. AFC is better than that.
First of all I am a Gooner born in England of Turkish Cypriot parents. I do not agree with this ridiculous ban. It is OTT but the club must stop the offending banner being displayed. I can unbderstand why some people have complained. Deal with the issue at hand and do not give us all a bad name!
Advertising tourism to Israel all around the ground is far more offensive than any national flag - but, of course, there's no money coming in from national flags, is there?
I really think this is a completely unnecessary move on the part of the club. By all means take down offensive banners but to ban a national flag is completely irrational.
This is ridiculous. The majority is constantly being gunned down by the "love to be offended" minority. Bring back the flags, I am not British, but I support their National Flag. What's next? Banning all British people from the games?
Arsenal - please let common sense prevail and retract the 'no flag' policy. We all want our new stadium to be filled with atmosphere and emotion - one individual cannot lead to such a knee-jerk reaction. Please see sense over this issue.
apparently it offends ppl....i want to meet these crazy ppl to c why the heck flags offend these ppl, and besides if there's another international match at the emirates like aargentina vs brazil, are they not gonna allow flags then.....i dont think they thought this through cos its a pathetic idea!!!!!
The loonies are taking over the assylum. We (the Rangers fans) faced the same barmy ban a few years ago at the home of Hearts when they banned the Union Flag, we won, stick to your guns and you'll win too
Its the fan's club, and as long as nobody is getting hurt or insulted, the fans should be allowed to wave flags from any country! We have an international team on the pitch, and want to support them all, plus we are an English club- how can you ban the English flag!?
Absolutely ridiculous ban !!! Arsenal .. Sort it out ! I want my boys to grow up being proud of their club and country, not frightened or scared to show who they support at club and national level. This ban only promotes zenophobia, and will alienate fans from the club they love. Whats next .. banning England flags and shirts at England games ??? You want an atmosphere at The Grove, but seem hellbent on sabotaging any effort made by fans to show their loyalty ... Nuff said !
To protect the feelings of one you crush the freedom of all?
This is not what our Countrymen have fought and died for over the years.
Three cheers for the Red, White and Blue.
This is a ridiculous ban. National flags are a great thing to see and actually show what a great club we have by being able to see the many nationalitys that come to watch us.BRING BACK THE FLAGS!!
It is a sad state of affairs in this Country when it is a crime to be British. We up here at The Rangers can testify to this.
Bring back the Union Flag at The Emirates.
We Are The People.
Madness. Wasn't sure whether to go to Ashburton Grove for our visit there, now my mind's made up - I'm going, dressed head to foot in the Cross of St George!!!
it's totally wrong to ban flags, and while we're at it can we have the WHL 71, 04 & anfield 89, OT 02 banners back too ?, the club should realise how important these were to us fans
Inflammatory comments on anything, or flags/banners representing anything illegal are a definite no, but a blanket ban is wrong too. Arsenal fans flock to the stadium from across the globe and they want to show where they have come from.
its a disgrace that Arsenal say we cannot fly the flag of our own country in the capital city of of own country, nowhere else in the free world would this be acceptable.
