Save the Food Trucks in Jersey City

"YOUR support is important to save the Food-trucks in Jersey City"

The Food Trucks in Jersey City offer a very credible breakfast/lunch option to the people working and living in the neighbourhood.

For me personally, after having worked in Manhattan and having enjoyed the multitude of food options out there - it was a big change adjusting to the scarcity of good budget lunch options in Exchange Place neighborhood of Jersey City. One day while going for lunch - we the 'Hot Soup' truck serving Chicken-over-rice for $5 and the 'Taste of India' food truck serving a wholesome meal for $7. 'Mr Softee' would park itself right there - giving corporate-workers to chill after lunch without burning pockets. 'Banana Leaf' and a mediterranian cart followed with the same sub-$8 lunch options and finally we thought Jersey City was finally matching to the options in Manhattan.

But then one day, while picking up lunch at 'Banana Leaf' with some colleagues we saw an electric-police-golf-cart-like-vehicle stop by and fine the truck. To our shock we saw the same thing happening the next day and the day after that!!

There were unconfirmed rumors that local area restaurants had felt threatened by the presence of these carts and provoked the police and the City to take action against them.

Whatever be the reason, the food trucks are an essential part Jersey City's lunch-time landscape. And they have hundreds of patrons from offices in the area.

If you have been affected by the absence of food-trucks in the area please join in this movement and sign the petition. We'll make sure our voices are heard by the local administrators at the City Hall of Jersey City.
