On July 13th, 2006, a date that will live in imfamy, Gather initiated the Andre Update. Immediately, large swaths of content disappeared under Gather's new flaggin architecture. Thousands of comments were vaporized in an instant. Battles were fought, emails exchanged. An Open Letter to Tom Gerace was published. Edward Nudelman got his feelings hurt.

Through all this noise, the problem was supposedly resolved. The comments came back and most of the content was unflagged and Gather got back to normal. Or so we thought. It has come to my attention that one image that is dear to my heart has not been unflagged by Gather: Audrey's Boobs.

This image, posted as a satirical response to an article by Stephanie B., has been unviewable by the Gather community for almost two months. What TOS is it violating? Does it meet the criteria to be tagged for 'Adult Content'? Let's analyze this:

Does it have nudity?

No.

Does it have crude or indecent language?

No.

Does it depict graphic violence?

No.

Does it depict graphic sexual activity?

No.

So it must somehow fall under 'Other'. No one is quite sure what 'Other' is and it would seem that Gather isn't sure either. The image has been under 'editorial review' for quite some time. Now, I can understand why some hypothetical editor would like to review this image at length. But they can do that when it is viewable by the entire Gather community! Even if they did consider it a violation of Gather TOS, they should really inform Audrey of how she can get her picture out of editorial limbo. But they've sent no messages, explained nothing.

The image is completely inoffensive. I've seen racier images on prime time television. It seems that Gather has some type of bias against Audey's boobs. There are other pictures of boobs (NOT tagged as adult content) that haven't been flagged. Why just her boobs? If it starts with her, who is next? Does Gather not like boobs in general? Does the image of a pair of completely covered breasts qualify as 'Adult Content'? I've seen more skin in a city park than is in that picture!

Ladies of Gather, you must take a stand! There is an important principle on the line. I call on all of you to post images of your cleavage, completely covered, to this group in support of Audrey. Show your support for a sister oppressed! The freedom of your boobs might just depend on it!
