As a peace activist who has worked and continues to work against the invasion and occupation of Iraq I appeal to you to release the four aid workers. They are there to truly help the Iraqi people and have nothing to do with the U.S. occupation.
Bridges does valuable, compassionate work. Please release the Italian and Iraqi members of Bridges as we work in the U.S. to end the criminal occupation of Iraq.
I hope with all my heart this is resolved with no harm done to these two women. Meanwhile, the real reason of why we see more and more violence must not be forgotten: the US occupation. The US is not exporting democracy, it is exporting oppression in all its forms: racism, violence, religious fundamentalism, intoleranc e and poverty. Ending the occupation NOW may not secure that Iraq will evolve into a democracy overnight, but continuing it ENSURES that it will not.
I have talked to workers for humanitarian NGOs that are repulsed by the way USAID is using them, but they know of no other way to get access to and help the Iraqi people other than go along for now. Don't let the U.S. government suceed in driving a wedge between people of good will. We can't give them that victory.
Stop killing each other... that wouldn't create anything good, but evil and tragedy. Listen to the people's voices, weeping for the dead and calling for help. We're not divided into two worlds. We're on the same side. People who want to divide world is such greedy evils, as Bush and a few richest people who make more money by world conflicts. Don't have them take advantage of our grief.
Please release these women. They are not the enemy. They are people who care about all people. In the name of the God of all peoples have mercy on them and set them free.
These workers are truly trying to assist the Iraqi people - please release them. We in the U.S. will continue to work to have our troops leave Iraq NOW.
