Political cartoons aren't always funny, but they are intended to make people think. People have a right to express their disapproval - nonviolently!
I am a US citizen. You know, the country that the radical Muslims call "the Great Satan".
I support this petition wholeheartedly and am against any kind of blind dogma and ignorance. I can understand, to a certain extent, that some muslims may feel insulted by these cartoons but for this to be a catalyst for such violence is beyond belief. I have seen many examples of anti-semetic cartoons that were by far more graphic and insulting and yet no flags were burned and nobody was even threatened with death. Denmark has taken an appropriate stance.

Most of the people discussing and passing judgement on the danish cartoons, haven't even seen them. It is devastating watching your flags and embassies being burned, knowing that people have not been told the whole story. E.g. the most hated picture (the profet with a pigs snout) were not even one of the cartoons in the paper, but is being presented as such in the media.
In Denmark most people have a very relaxed relationship with religion, we don't really understand how anyone can react this strongly. We joke about protestants, catholics, the government, the royal family - everything. The only thing we feel very strongly about is...freedom of speech.
I have seen the cartoons and didn't think to much about them. If they offended the muslim community, then I'm very sorry for that. But I will never be sorry for having independent newspapers.
Now is the time for friendship and understanding. This media-frenzy is only helping the extremists on both sides. Don't start hating everyone, because of what some might do. This was a very long message, but it is a very important topic. Much love to everyone from Denmark

Western society, Judaism, Christianity and humanism have liberties that can not exist under such an aggressive and intolerant teaching. And because it can not tolerate criticism, can only have the goal of oppressing people of other believes and teachings. Were the mocking, ridiculing and criticism have strengthened western believes and philosophies, it also made it possible for western society to leave the dark ages behind us.
The time that we could learn, adapt and integrate Islamic sciences, literature and teaching has long been gone and has been replaced by a culture that hates, suppresses and leaves no room for the liberties and tolerance that the west displaces.
But as long as western societies are scared to stand up for those rights and bow down in a fear of insulting those who reject those believes, we are not only insulting and rejecting our own believes, we are heading back to those dark ages that we escaped to many centuries ago.

I support this petition. Once again your quiet courage in the face of fanatics puts many to shame. I believe there is more to the horrendous actions being exhibited by these Islamic communities then just disapproval of some insipid cartoons. These are the people who are curiously muted when video taped beheadings are flashed around the world. They are quick to complain that they are given no respect, that they are insulted, they are misunderstood, ... Only an idiot "misunderstands" murderous threats, setting fire to buildings, obscenities to non-Islamic women, etc... Respect is not given out freely, it is earned by ones actions.
