These hostages are in Iraq for humanitarian reasons and are motivated solely to aid those who have suffered as the result of this obscene war. Releasing them would be a moral victory for their captors.Let compassion transcend animosity and teach Bush a lesson about his own professed "Christian" virtues.
As a member of Women In Black,I stand at a 1 Hr . vigil every Sat. To protest the war on Iraq and to try to make others aware of the suffering that the the US government is inflicting upon innocent Iraqi Children, women and families. The Christ Peacemakers That these men all belong to are the ones that made me aware of the use of depleted uranium on innocent humanbeings. I beg you to release these good people who are trying to alert American citizens to the crimes oour own government is committing in Iraq. Please release them and allow them to continue to tell the world the truth!
Four members of Christian Peacemaker Teams were taken this past Saturday, November 26, in Baghdad, Iraq. They are not spies, nor do they work in the service of any government. They are people who have dedicated their lives to fighting against war and have clearly and publicly opposed the invasion and occupation of Iraq. Of course, plainly, they are people of faith, but they are not missionaries. They have deep respect for the Islamic faith and for the right of Iraqis to self-determination.
Speaking for myself: It has been my dearest wish, as it has been the action of these four people now captive, to be with people in solidarity with the horrifically used people of Iraq by a rogue state so powerful it could destroy not only Iraq as well as planetary life. That Iraq should have lost so much of its population young and old, and lost access to so much of its land because of radioactive infestation, and suffered torture and massive abuse is intolerable, intolerable. These four have been trying to force open the conscience of the world to the horrible conditions of Iraqis as the symptom of the suffering of most of humanity driven by the always illegal powers of those acting against Iraq in particular, and humanity in many other parts of the world. Those who have these good people captive should not be supporting, by this action which will certainly serve, as propaganda, the forces of force and terror. This is not a religious question as much as the force of the state terrorists against the peoples of Iraq, and of many other places on this troubled planet where we live. Please understand that civil war and dissension amongst Sunnis, Shias and Kurds is a goal of this state terrorism. These state terrorists are attempting to court the Iranian government for just this reason. These terrorists want to tear Iraq into little helpless pieces, and then to use Iraq as a military bastion, and as a tool of hegemony to control other countries using oil as a basic weapon for for
Many here in American are aware and of, and are fighting against, the unlawful occupation of Iraq. You only hurt your cause when you harm those who are trying to help you...even if they are Christians or Westerners. Don't stoop to the level of the American invaders.
releasing the four hostages will prove once and for all that the arabs/muslims are notwhat the media/west describs them to be. It is a powerful demonstrations. Please do not miss this opportunity and release the four hostages. God be with you. Allah akbar. Thank you.
It is so ironic that people whose genuine commitment to peace are being threatened with death by Iraqis who are fighting to protect their country from US domination.
Some of us Americans have asked questions like, "Why would the Muslim extremists hate we peace-loving Americans so much? Where would they get the idea that they can get their way by blowing things up, killing innocent men, women, and children? Where did they get the explosives?"...questions our so-called leaders have been careful not to ask, because the answers are so obvious and close to home. And we have not forgotten the Nuremburg Principles, nor our supreme law of the land, which makes Peace (Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness) the Law. Please honor the peaceful mission and intentions of the peace activists now in your jurisdiction...for us all...for our children and for our children's children. Quite sincerely, Rick Weddle

Having just returned from Palestine, I know how welcoming the people arein the Middle East. PLEASE show your true strength by releasing the CPT members.
I pray that those who went to Iraq to give witness to the peaceful resolution of conflict not be harmed and that their captors see the folly and futility of this action.
Please release these gentle peacemakers so they can continue to work against war and injustice while building peace among all people. May God's compassion surround all of us.
