Dear Neighbors- Please release the CPT workers unharmed. I know many in Iraqi, very likely including some of you, are persons of deep faith. The four CPT members you have are exactly like you in that respect, as well as many other was. The depth of their faith has caused them to travel to Iraq to stand with the people of Iraq and by their actions and words say that our government's invasion and occupation of Iraqi is immoral and inflicts inhumane destrucion and pain on Iraq and its people. Please set them free. They are placing their love for Iraqis above allegiance to their own government, just as their faith requires of them. Many others of us in the United States, including me, share their faith and views. They, however, have more courage and love than those of us we who are not in Iraq. Please set them free, persons made in God's image, just as each of you are.

In my heart I have wanted to come to Iraq and do what I can to communicate to the good people of Iraq that even though I am an American I very much disagree with the policies of the Bush Administration. It seems possible to me that the Christians who you recently captured in your country, are not spies, but are merely people who have the love and courage to actually come to your country and see if there is any love that they can extend to you during this very difficult and unjut time. Please let these captured individuals live and let them tell the world the truth of the huge injustice being done to your country by the Bush Administration and by US citizens who don't really know the truth of how it is that love and goodwill is what can enable all of us to live peacefully together.

Jesus gave humanity an example of "do not kill." These Christian Peacemakers are dedicated to risking their lives without harming others, to try to bring peace. They are pacifists--humanitarian citizens, and are not connected to the military in any way. They went to Iraq in love and peace. As a follower of Christ in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, I plead that the 4 Christian Peacemakers be release unharmed.
