Please release these people. They are NOT, unlike many others claiming "missionary" status, antagonists to our cause. Mistakes happen. Not a big deal. However, those who refuse to correct an innocent mistake, i.e., those who place their own misplaced self-importance or "ego" above the just causes for which we fight, are harmful rather than helpful. LOOK at the petitioners! Not fools, shills, enemies. An error happened. That's all. So easy and effortless (and enjoyable) to simply FIX it now by releasing these mis-guided but well-meaning souls.
Please do this so that you can fight another day in honor. These people are perhaps very, very foolish but well-meaning. Just send them on their way.
I considered participating on this particular delegation, but decided against it due to the volatility of the current situation. Now I am safe while courageous others suffer for the sacrifice I didn't make. I owe it to these brave souls to plead for their lives. Why are you punishing those who came to expose the grave injustice their own govt. is committing against the people of Iraq? The U.S. government will not care about saving the lives of activists trying to support Iraq, and it will not withdraw in order for them to be freed. There is nothing for you to gain by holding these people. If you are true Muslims, then you will have respect for the sacrifice and bravery of these peacekeepers to help the Muslim people, and you will release them immediately.
Please release these people. You are not helping your cause when you kidnap and hold as hostages aid workers who are humanitarians and are working for the betterment of the Iraqi people.
