I find it appalling that this government and the so-called "Christian" right haven't demanded the immediate release of these people. Evidently, to get some attention, you must be brain dead (Terry Schiavo)or fit their narrow definition of morality.
We all know that the big names in this mess are not going to negotiate SO.... whats left? The loss of life and no gain whatsoever or the release of hostages and everyone finds another way to achieve thier ends????
Please, do not kill peace makers. They are not soldiers and have not tried to hurt you or your fellow citizens. We need more peace makers in the world to help all of mankind.
As a member of the antiwar community fighting for an immediate end to the Iraq War and the withdrawl of all US troops, I ask for the immediate release of the 4 CPT hostages by their captors.
Whoever has taken these people hostage(this seems rather unclear since C.P.T. oppose the U.S. occupation of Iraq) should let them go immediately and apologize. People who support peace should be celebrated, not persecuted.
I pray that you release the four representatives of the Christian Peacemakers Teams. This group is clearly against the US war in Iraq and has done much to uncover the abuses at Abu Ghraib. Their intentions are simply to bring peace--they should not be the targets of retribution.
Those who are working for the liberation of Muslim people must work together. The CPT are not enemies of Islam, they are instead working in Solidarity.
Bush, Blair, Cheney and their allies are the real enemies of Islam. People who have free choice in their lives and choose to visit violence on others instead of making peace.
You will only weaken your cause by killing these 4 committed activists. It will play into the hands of the American government. In fact by killing these activists your actions will appear to many as if they are serving the U.S. government directly.
Please have the courage to free these 4 dedicated activists who are already putting their lives on the line in solidarity with the people of the Muslim world.
