Reccently, the Union of Ontario Indians and the Ministry of Natural Resources entered into an agreeement to hold an annual meeting between the UOI Chief and the Minister of Natural Resources, establish a joint Charter Annex Agreement Implementation Committee and an Advisory for technical support. The Memoranda of Understanding is an agreement in which both parties agree to enter into a joint effort to protect the Great Lakes. Ontario's plan is to put $300,000.00 into developing policies to ensure the environmental protection of the Great Lakes.

The Haudensosaunee Confederacy is the oldest form of government in North America and its primary responsibility is the protection of Mother Earth. We, the people, feel that the Haudenosaunee should be included in the collaboration and consultation of any and all policies which affect our greatest natural resource, the Great Lakes. Please sign this petition, as it will be taken to the next Confederacy meeting for our leaders to understand that we the people have spoken. The Canadian government owes the Haudenosaunee Confederacy a great deal of money and we feel that cleaning up the Great Lakes should be a priority in land negotiations presently taking place.
