The Roadmender has helped entertain the kids of this town for years staging many great up and coming, and local bands. And this is only a small part of what it offers to the people of northampton. At a time when people are forever moaning that kids have nothing to do and nowhere to go, closing one of the few places they have seems crazy.
u gotta keep rm open, every1 complains about kids on the streets n rm's the only place we can go.. shut it and there'll be loads more kids on the streets! its the only place 4 uz young ones to go for a good time!!
Without places like the Roadmender towns become boring a pointless. With the town finally getting a propper university, it would be a shame to see the roadmender dissapear. It offers something for those who arn't the casual clubbers. It raises Northampton's profile, and helps mature Northampton's artists.
would never of visited Northampton , if it wasnt for the club as it is we stayed in a hotel went to a restaurant, caught taxis and enjoyed our night. hope to visit soon.
you can not close mender. it is the only decent place in npton that has different club nights and do gigs. what nightclub will start doing all that? its a great size too. i have some wicked memories there and want more to come!
Roadmender is more or less the only thing I could tell you is in Northampton - the only thing that keeps it on the map for me and certainly the only reason I've ever had to go there. It would be a significant loss were the place to close.
Roadmender is the only place we can go to get away from everything and have a great laugh and listen to some great bands. local teenage need somewhere like that.
It would be a great shame to lose a venue such as this devoted to young people of similar interests.Live music venues are hard to come by & it should not be allowed to become another Bingo Hall or even worse another Pub!!
There's not enough good venues in the town at the and with a good emerging local band scene it seems completely idiotic to close one of the TWO good music venues.
pleeeeeeeease dnt close rm! kaos is the only desent club for kids around and if we arent in a club on a tuesday night we could be getting into trouble!! save us!! SOS!!!
oh cmon.. i havnt been for a while but i love that place it means alot too me i met the love of my life there and went to some of the best gigs. It's a legendary place.

they cant close rm! they do realise the kids they r doinh rhis 2 are the future voters!?! if the close roadmender down then they will b votered out by soooo man y people! rm is the best!
they cant close roadmender it is grt! kaos there rules!! wat else r the kids in northampton going to do?!?! they will hasve nowhere 2 go and will b hanging out on the streets! also there is only 2 performing spaces in northampton and if they close roadmender they will only b 1! it is the gateway for goodness sake! oasis played, there rooster played there and basement jaxx were going to go there. it has soooo much going 4 it, it is so cool! so how can someone take that away from so many people! i bet the council have NEVER even been 2 a proper event there! i dont no how they can do this 2 so many children, and instead they are going to spend the money on after school clubs! yay cooker class! it is rubish! they CAN NOT close it!! it is not there right! it makes me sooo angry!
I travelled from Cologne to see a gig of The Fall at Northampton's Roadmender.
I guess that there aren't not too many non-commercial but proffesionals venues in that city.
Not only The Fall's gig was fantastic - best sound compared to many UK and German venues so far.
Roadmender knows how to manage a pleasant show.
Support is needed and it is worth!
Closing down the Roadmender is stupid. Apart from the Soundhaus, it's the only decent place locally to see bands play. Now most people will have to travel as far as Birmgham or Oxford to see they're fave bands. There's bugger all else to do within the county anyway. Sort it out.
i dont understand!! ur tryin 2 stop young peeps frm hangin on the streets.... then u go nd take away tha 1 thing we actually look 4ward 2 on a friday nite!! wats wiv u peeps ?! KEEP RM!!!
Unbelievable! Isn't it about time all the councillors started thinking about what is good for the community instead of just looking at the financial side of things. My council tax keeps going up and yet they can't manage to keep supporting local talent and entertainment. Bloody useless! The kids that you deprive now are the voters of the future so it will come back and bite you on the a**e if you go ahead and do this.
How is it that the council can contemplate funding a BEACH and yet cannot find funds to support one of the most important projects in the whole area. Shame on you. Remember the kids that won't be able to see live bands in the future are also future voters. Who I hope vote you out of office.
deary me!! wat has this world come to ???? closing down a vital source of entertainment for northampton and its surronding area!!! dissapointing!! its been pleasing many generations of people why stop now ???
you cant close roadmender! it has much going 4 it! it kepeps the kid sof the streets! it is not fair to close it!....2 take all that away from so many kids, whta are they surpose 2 do? if roadmender goes then all the crimb rate will go up as kids wil have nothing 2 do!!! there is only 2 preforming spaces in northampton and if rm closes there will be only 1 and roadmender is like a gateway! a first step for loads of bands and actors!
oasis played there so did rooster and basement jaxx all most played there! it is the only good place in northampton and they cant take that away from so many kids! it is not fair 2 decide what we want! it is not fair to take the money our of roadmender and put it into after school clubs!!! cooker club yay! i really dont take about after school clubs and so many people feel the same!we NEED roadmender it is staring to put us on the map! the people who want to take it away from us are probaly enjoy there caveir and want the lydea and bethony 2 have cookery classes after schhol it idsn ot their desion or in should be any way! it just makes me feel so angry! we shouldnt let this happen 2 a place we all know and love!
Don't shut Roadmender down.
Not many people support the NCC for wanting to do so.
It's the only decent place for gigs in an Area close to me.
It's the first place i ever went to with my friends to see some bands play.
It holds so many memoris for me, and i'd hate to see it shut down.
I haved lived in both the East Midlands and in London. During both residences, I travelled frequently to gigs at the Roadmender. Northampton is excellently located and the loss of the venue would put a serious dent in the 'out of town' cash flowing into the Northampton economy. Furthermore, for live gigs there would be a huge void left in the area if the venue had to close.
I lived in Northampton for many years and the Roadmender was a vital part of the local scene. A town of Northampton's size and importance deserves such a venue and is crucial for maintaining the town's profile
Although I live in Cardiff I visit Northampton on a regular basis specifically to attend gigs at the Roadmender.
If the Roadmender closes the hotels, B&B's, restuarants and pubs will not only lose my custom but that of many others who I know also travel to visit the venue.
All towns need a decent size music venue, what an unbelievable situation this proposed closure is.
The Roadmenender is the only venue of its type in Northampton. The threat of closure due to withdrawal of funding just shows how negative Northampton Borough Council is. It shows up their lack of thought towards the people of a town which they are supposed to serve.
Although i have never visited the venue i understand that it plays a huge part in the nighlife of Northampton, and also brings new and varied acts to the forfront of public awairness. It would be a sad day when such a venue was closed due to the county council.
