Northampton needs the roadmender! People may not know what it brings to the town but when it's gone you'll sure as hell see a gaping hole in the music scene; that will become just your local pub circuit.
there are hardly any places in northampton for teenagers to go where they can express themselves through music. roadmender has been a vital part of the community for years - why close it?
Not only is the Roadmender a fantastic place for so people to see some of their favourite bands. It is also important to Art and the Town's culture. If Northampton loses the Roadmender it really will be struggling!! He has so much to offer!!! and has Offered!!!
The 'mender is a great venue and does an awful lot to keep the Northampton music community going. To stop funding would be a great loss to a thriving scene.
My good friends cardboardbox have played there in the past and have always said what a brilliant venue it is and what a great atmosphere it has. It's an inspiration for the local kids and a damn good place to have a good time, not to mention some great bands play there like Streetlight Manifesto and Statistics. Don't let it disappear.
Were are the teenagers and young adults going to go on a friday and saturday night if venues like this are forced to close due to lack of funding?? I'll tell you where, down the local parks and wastelands where they will get involved in drugs and street crime as there is nothing better to do. Think about it!
Though not a resident of Northampton, I regularly attend events at the Roadmender. It is an excellent venue and a town the size and stature of Northampton would be a lesser place without it.
Venues that provide entertainment of the type provided by Roadmender are scarce - not just in Northampton but in the region - I travel over 20 miles from Bedford to attend.
The Roadmender is a great venue. It brings some of the best bands and artists to a region otherwise starved of live music. It is open to musicians and music lovers of all ages and from all musical genres. I would be very sad to see this venue close.
s an ex- Operations Manager of the venue I have seen serious mis management of funds, the reason I quit!! but there must be a way that this venue survives it is like a pheonix and will rise to the occation
The Roadmender is a quality venue, small venues are so much more personal than huge ones like the NEC and it still attracts quality acts. Don't withdraw your support!
I really hope that the positive work that the RM is doing for Northampton continues. They have faced an uphill struggle, and deserve our support. It is time that there was less of the No in NOrthampton.
it made me who i was as a youth. i wouldn't be in the industry today if it didn't turn me on to live music back then. northampton simply cannot do without it.
northampton is not having great places to see live music of the type thier bring to northampton.
dergate does not offer these sort of acts.
it's important that we have this place, northampton cannot keeping closing down these sort of things so people will go OUT of northampton for there entertainment
& we lose again.

It is absolutely beyond me that there should even be a question over the future of The Roadmender. It is far too important a facility to lose locally. A town (and county) the size of Northampton(shire) must have a venue for upcoming new bands, as well as the old guard to visit. Were it not so serious a matter, it would be laughable that the Council is thinking of withdrawing its support of this fantastic venue.
This is an excellent venue with a diverse range of local and national bands regularly appearing. I can't think of any other local venues other than the oxford Zodiac that provides this service. It would be cultural vandalism to stop funding this venue. It is often quoted that accountants know the cost of everything but the value of nothing. Please, for once let this not be the case.
The Roadmender is a fantastic and necessary part of the vibrant music scene in Northampton. It CANNOT be allowed to be forced to close by the withdrawal of vital financial support.
The Roadmender is is more than just a local resource. People travel from some considerable distances to see bands play here. There is a black hole for music venues outside of London and the possible closure of The Roadmender would be a disaster not only for Northampton but for the region and everyone within an hours travel. Perhaps greater investment in promotion further afield might help....
You should be ashamed. Turning down IKEA was a bad enough blow for the town. How can Northampton ever expect to evolve as a town or ever hope to gain city status without an established arts culture.
Roadmender is a wonderful, and totally unique Northampton venue.
Its importance to the local community CANNOT be measured, purely on a financial basis.
If the N.C.C. withdrew funding now, this would almost certainly condemn Roadmender to the history books.
Financial backing on projects around the county, HAVEN'T always been targeted to local residents satisfaction. Therefore to justify the retraction of funding on something that gives such diverse expression, and un-measureable joy to all its users, WILL be looked upon as economic vandalism, of the worste kind.
When spending OUR money, and considering Roadmenders very existance the N.C.C should seriously consider the many thousands of local residents who use, and will continue to use Roadmender now, and long into the future.N.C.C. MUST NOT let tax payers of Northamptonshire down, again!
Please DO NOT withdraw funding.
It is essential that Northants Council continue to support the Roadmender with funding, because the town does not have any larger live music venues where touring and unsigned local bands of different genres can perform. Where else can you see a diverse range of new and established original artists from rock, pop, indie, reggae etc - certainly not at the Derngate Theatre!
The Roadmender is an extremely important part of the social scene in Northamptonshire and every band I have seen there has been a sell-out which proves how popular the venue is and what sort of high level bands it can attract - to shut it would be ludicrous!
The Roadmender is an excellent example of the kind of venue which every council should support - a good venue, which can attract decent acts. There should be more like it, not less support for the existing one!
The Roadmender is a good venue with reasonable prices showing lots of non-mainstream musicians. Closing it would bes a sad blow to the social scene and the music scene.
It would be a travesty to let the Roadmender close. Part of Northamptonshire’s expansion plan is to develop the cultural side of the town, if the Roadmender was left to close, on top of Radlands already being allowed to close, then it would make a joke out of any promise that any physical growth of the town would be counterbalanced by developments in other areas. This town hasn't got much for its size as it is, lets not allow it to get any worse, please.
