Without roadmender we'd have nowhere to go. It's the only place in Northampton for us to go see bands. Why take it away from us when it's one of our only chances to socialise with others who like the same music. Besides, without it, how have any Northampton bands got a chance?
The Roadmender Music Venue is vital in ensuring Northampton has a musical culture that nurtures new talent, and provides an accesible place for all ages to enjoy a diverse range of musical events. It must be kept alive.
SAVE THE ROADMENDER!!!!!1 theres not many places to see really good live bands locally and it helps keep the spotty nosed, smelly green-day vandals off the streets!
You shouldnt stop funding roadmender as it rocks out loud and where else would kids have to go? we'd be busy jacking cars and stuff without roadmender hehehe
I f***ing bumm roadmender...isn't life just POINTLESS without it?! It rocks and is just about the only place anyone cool can hangout without annoying people in town!!!
If it closes, I see no reason to visit Northamptonshire on my imminent trip to the UK. This venue is an important, if not irreplacable, fixture of the community of Northamptonshire.
Roadmender brings music diversity to northampton and it would be a great loss, it attracts up and coming bands as well as established musicians and it gives a forum to showcase talent. Northampton will be a much lesser town without it. Keep It Open!!
Good little venue, I can't imagine the rest of Northampton being much fun, closing it will see 100's of people leave the area affecting housing prices and then the local economy
Absolutely despicable to even think about withdrawing funding. The Roadmender is an irreplaceable part of the music framework in Northants. We need more places like it not less. The regeneration of the town was heading in the right direction, we're now a university town as well, please don't make a decision which is going to severely affect that. For the love of music, the love of the arts, and for the love of Northampton, please let funding continue.
Are you MAD ? You can't shut down a great venue like this which delivers such great entertainment. I have travelled from York to this venue on numerous occasions. Keep it open
Please think again about this decision. The Roadmender brings people and bands to the town. If we lose this venue, Northampton will not be able to compete with other places. Make the most of this great venue!! To all at the Council - remember when you were young and went to gigs? Let everyone who loves music keep enjoying here!!!
Closing down the Roadmender would be the stupidest decision NCC have ever made, the Roadmender is and should be able to be one of Northamptons priemer venues. By withdrawing funding NCC would be doing the opposite!
Please Please Please Do not Shut down the roadmender, its is one of the only places in northamptonshire that is affordable and brings great music to the community. It Brings together The Old and Young who have a love of music. The Roadmender is also one of the things that keeps northampton interesting and lively. SHUTTING THE ROADMENDER DOWN IS A MISTAKE - DON'T DO IT!!!!!!
keep it open, why close it? its a real waste if it is not used the fri up is a really good way to meet new people and this is not very fair.ALTHOUGH IF THEY HAD SOME ACTUALLY DECENT BANDS THEN THEY WOULD PROBABLY HAVE MORE
PEOPLE BOTHER TO COME.!!!!
WHY SHUT A PLACE SO GREAT! Most bands started off here because they couldnt go no-where else! Its a good starter place for bands and is the only good thing in Northampton! Keep it open or you will make Northampton the most boring place in ENGLAND!
Keep this place open! It's places like this all over the country that have given us some of the best British music. Bands need to be given the oppertunity to make their name and start somewhere. Places like this have started band that have a given a voice to a generation of people. There's no substitute for the way people can communicate through music.
ive played at roadmender, and its a fantastic venue, authoritys complain about youth on the street, yet they are willing to close down something that will take them off the streets. they are too worried about money then actual people.
I know as a previous resident and occasional visitor of Northampton that it lacks well structured and funded venues for the arts. So if the County Council is considering the withdrawl/redistribution of funds to the Roadmender it will be doing the public (who it serves) a great disservice.
what else will their be now the theatres being refurbished! nothing compares to the roadmender, pt up ticket prices we wont mind! i've been to some amazing gigs it's so good for live music!
keep roadmender open, it is the coolest place on earth and is the only place me and my mates get to hang out and rock on friday nights! KEEP ROADMENDER OPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unbelievable! venues of this size & type are vital for the exposure of real artists & musicians.Without them there will be no alternative to the tired manufactured dross that poisons the charts & commercial radio.Diversity must survive.
Roadmender is awesome for gigs. The atmosphere is unbeatable. You acn't take it away from us. It's the best local music venue this area has. Do you want us hanging around on the streets of an evening instead of being in the roadmender enjoying live music?
You can not take away our local venue for all the big music acts. This is the only place around here that gets in the big bands. You can not do this to us.
to me the roadmender is actually the best life venue in town, i've spent some lovely nights in there, the programm is extrodinary smart and the staff is so friendly and helpful, it's hard to top. northampton will be a much more dull place without the roadmender. soundhaus alone is just not enough for a town this size! safe the roadmender!!!!!!
With referance to Councillor Rosemary Bromwhich's comment 'this money would be better invested in other cultural activities for the town' I do not understand why they need to close the Roadmender, why don't they invest more into it and work with them to make their business plan more viable? Another building will be pulled down to make way for more houses or another car park and yet another empty promise to invest the money elsewhere, I will not be holding my breath waiting for that to happen!
how can the money be better spent?
what is better than investing money into the interests of people of all ages, bringing music, art and culture into northampton town for decent people to enjoy?
The Roadmender as a venue is up there with the very best. Northamptonshire is a musical wasteland with a few notable exceptions and NCC should not be allowed to destroy one of the few outposts.
