I can\'t believe that Maine is so against people that aren\'t like them.
I honestly thought that this vote would have passed and made gay marriage legal. But there are obviously people in this world who think that just because someone\'s different, that means they shouldn\'t be able to do the same things we get to.
I would like to start by saying that the vote in Maine over Question 1 asked the question \"Do you want to reject the new law that lets same-sex couples marry and allows individuals and religious groups to refuse to perform these marriages?\"
First off, if we would have left them alone (them being anyone who has the sexual preference of being gay), we never would have had to acknowledge the fact that they\'re different from us. They live in the same world we do and live the same way we do with one exception. They like people of the same sex.
We really went out of our way to stop them from being able to marry. For all of you who are straight: How would you feel if gays were the majority of the people and they had all of our rights? We are the underlings, and they want to stop us from marrying. So, they go out of their way just to stop us from being happy.
For those of you who are happily married: How would you feel if you weren\'t able to marry the one you\'re currently married to? (those of you waiting to be divorced, forget I even mentioned this)
So, you don\'t like gay people. Get over it. What if your sons or daughters turned out to be gay? Are you going to refuse to let them get married? Are you really going to look them in the eyes and say \"I will not let you get married to them. If you do, I\'ll never talk to you again.\"?
People all over this country are gay. People all over this WORLD are gay.
For those of you who are so against gays and their happiness, think about this: You\'re straight. You enjoy being straight. You will be happily married someday. (most of you)
Now think about this: Gays are Gay. They enjoy being gay. They will not be happily married someday. (at least in the state of Maine) They will never get to experience that OFFICIAL title that says you will be with this person for the rest of your life.
If Maine doesn\'t want to let gays get married so bad, that they\'re go out of their way just to stop it, maybe they should get jobs and start doing something else for their families other than worrying about what other people are doing.
If Maine doesn\'t want to let gays get married so bad, that they\'re go out of their way just to stop it, they should stop and think. Stop and think about what Maine is. Drugs and Alcohol. That all Maine knows. A bunch of rednecks who would sooner let a deer walk out of their sights than let gays be happy. Hell, they\'ll probably stop cutting wood just to go down and vote against gay marriage.
I\'m writing this to see how many people will agree with me. If I get enough signatures, hopefully, I\'ll be able to use it to get an actual petition to start.
