I DISAGREE with this petition. In my opinion for music to be punk it has to be real. Real feelings and events. Good Charlotte creates music about what happened to them, how it was hard growing up for the twins because their dad abandoned them, how they were made fun of but overcame it, how their friend commited suicide, what made them who they are, what they believe in. They're punk, more punk than Hilary Duff who doesn't even write or sing, just lipsynchs. Can you write down everything that's happened to you and how you feel and write music to it? Try to raise your voice to the world? When YOU do that please give me a call. And how can you say that a whole band and all the people, not just the 12 year olds, who like them should die JUST BECAUSE you don't like that band? Do you people even know what punk is? Punk is, by todays standars, not being afraid to be different. GC isnt different, i agree with that. They're normal-what's 'cool'. But they aren't AFRAID to try new things. Think about it:
First Album: kinda new to music scene, being themselves.
Second album: having fun, playing around, being themselves, experimenting, letting loose...etc.
Third Album: mnore serious...being them as they grow older and mature
See the difference between the albums? they arent afraid to change, and THAT, by todays standards is what makes them 'punk' they arent hardcore punk, but they are punk to an extent. just bcause u dont like them doesnt mean they shoudl b banned.
