These poor dogs should be protected by owners that just want to fight dogs for money! That is so mean and that's why these dogs have bad names!!! PUNISH THOSE BAD OWNERS, NOT THE DOGS!!!
How about protecting the dogs from irresponsible owners? How about punishment for the OWNERS? Responsible dog owners are the only ones that will be harmed by this. The problem dogs or problem owners already don't care about government or the law, so why punish the upstanding US citizen with legislature such as this?
I have 6 pitbulls and they have been around my kids since they were 5 & 6 years old. Never had an incident with them. They are very protective over them.
First of all it's not the APBT, or any other breed that is the problem. It's the irresponsible owners of any problem dog that is in fact the problem. There are some very major problems with your proposal, starting with your target. Why not target irriesponsible owners, with stricter laws. The bill proposed only stands to hurt responsible owners. The people that are the problem, are not law abiding citizens. They already break the law by fighting these amazing animals and mistreating them. How will banning these dogs stop the problem people? It won't! You're only going to hurt the responsible dog owners, fanciers, and dog show enthusiasts with this ban. Try doing something constructive with your time and OUR money and make stricter laws for ALL pet owners to be responsible, and and care for their animals. Someone caught fighting, abusing, or neglecting animals, recieves nothing but a slap on the wrist for destroying the reputation of the greatest breed of dog, the APBT. And you want to ban the dogs??? Stop wasting our time and MONEY with this nonsense and do something positive with your time in office. We will not stand by and let your political adgendas take away our families!!!
Should we prohibit all americans just b/c some are criminals? No. We put the criminals in prision and this is what we should do to people that misuse this breed but should not punish the good owners that have been raised around this breed and have raised their children around them with never showing a sign of threat

This is honestly a joke! Its not the dog itself thats bad, its the influence/training of the dog given by its master that makes the dog what it is! A buddy of mine here in Baltimore has 2 pits from south , might I add they are some of the biggest pits i have ever seen. Are as gentle as the cats they shoulda been. Alls im saying is dogs like other breeds of animal or creature, they adapt to what U, as a Person, adapt them to. So if you train your dog to fight and be violent why should my dog be banished! Because another dog has hurt somebody and my overgrown pits play restlessly with my children they were brought up with...

Take a survey and ask your citizens what they are most afraid of and tell me how many of them say "pitbulls". None of them will. There are more important things to try and fix than this issue. They might require that you work hard, but isn't that what you said you would do when you were voted into office?
statistics say that dobermans have the highest recorded attacks, not pits. my two dogs are very lovable and gentle. i would'nt trade for anything. if you're going to punish dog attacks, fine. but don't single out a particular breed. that is just wrong.

This is a sad day when people with power decide to try to wipe out a whole breed of dog because of a few irresponsible people. I say a few, because the majority of pitbull owners do not condone the actions of the irresponsible owners and would side with the government on harder laws for irresponsble owners. Do some research on these dogs, ask responsible owners, vetranarians, and look at the statistics. Dont ban these dogs BAN BAD OWNERS!!!

MY KIDS ADORE MY TWO DOGS,I WISH THE PEOPLE THAT TRY TO BAN US SHOULD OWN ONE FOR A PERIOD AMOUNT OF TIME AND THEN JUDGE.IT IS NOT THE BREED IT IS IN THE HAND THAT FEEDS.
Something must be done here. Research into this breed need to be done before this kind of decision can be made. I fully support tougher laws on the owners of pet that are agressive but to label a specific breed is crazy. I think that we can all come together on this one and make it a win win situation. I have owned everything from a lab to a pit bull and by far the APBT is the most loving and loyal dog that I have ever owned. This such a great dog that gets suck a bad rap because of bad owner not because they are bad dogs.
Dont do away with the dogs just because of the miscaring and handling of these animals by the majority of their owners. punish the people that starve, beat, kick, and fight their APBT. Then you can see the big difference is the owners and not the dogs

all breeds of dogs can become vicious and attack people not just pitbulls. i personally have had more dog agression shown towards me by other breeds of dogs.
