It would be very ignorant to punish a breed for the owners mistakes. Their are some very irresponsible pitbull owners but you can not punish everyone for a one persons crime.
punish the deed not the breed I don't know about some of these people that want to ban pitbulls I mean what if the breed they owned was getting banned what would they do if there kids loved a dog that was being banned how would they tell there kids that there dog has to either be put to sleep or find another home come on people have a heart!!!
there are over a million pit bulls living as pets and working dogs in the US, yet there are less than 50 dog attacks per year that are perpetrated by this loving and loyal breed. that should be proof enough that it is the owners fault if their dog goes bad. punish irresponsible owners, not treat a whole breed and type of dog like the nazis treated the jews......it is wrong, and unethical. not to mention a total violation of our constitutional rights. whats next, ban red cars because there have been more accidents involving red cars...pleeeease.
I can't believe people are wasting there time trying to do this! Why not the chihuahua, poodle, cocker spaniel, or all the other dogs more likely of biting out there???? Why aren't they being picked on? Why just the pitbull? These dogs are my life, and I couldn't imagine not going to bed at night knowing that all my family is in bed. (my family includes 4 pitbulls, 2 boys, & my fiance) Let's get real.....
I have owned pits bulldogs all my life and each one has been my best friend. I can't imagine my life without them. They have brought so much joy into my life. My mother died when I was 10 of cancer, and I soon received a pit bulldog puppy I named Misty. Misty filled a big part of that hole in my heart and life. I had someone to talk to who would love me unconditionaly. I am now 24 years old and have just lost Misty Janaury of 2005. I am so thankful that God gave me Misty. I hope and pray that this bill does not pass so not only me but someone else can have a nother Misty. I have never trained them to fight just to be a loving dog and that is all they have been. They will do what they are trained to do, you can't punish them for being a loyal friend. They are not bad dogs they just sometimes have bad owners. Please don't pass this bill it isn't fair, becase they are not the only breed of dog that has bitted someone. Furthermore, drugs, alcohol, drinking and driving, etc., kills people more than pit bulldogs, but know one has band all of that from Georgia. Thank you for your time.
This breed has been portrayed by the media as terrible monsters yet there is no research done to see how loving this breed really is. I've owned pit bulls for the last several years and my dogs are raised in a loving enviroment as any dog deserves and play with my 2 children daily. Any bad "parent" wether it be to a child or dog can create a bad "child" (dog/kid). I believe these dogs do not deserved to be discriminated against because of their breed. I feel bad owners shall pay consequences not the breed or families that care for and love the breed. Please do not ban these dogs for it is not their fault they are a pit bull. They are a loving, caring loyal family member/pet.
I have a kennel and raise these wonderful dogs. The dogs that cause the trouble are from backyard breeders that concentrate on a quick buck or fighting. There is as much differance in these dogs and the true pits as night and day.If you pass this into law,the ONLY thing you will do is hurt the ones of us bettering the breed. The people who have the problem dogs will not be affected at all. The laws are on the books now that will help the problem. You just need to find a law enforcement group willing to enforce them. Its hard to correct a problem when the officers who are suppose to enforce the laws look the other way. than when it gets out of hand you want to do away with the breed all togeather.
Again, not to cause trouble but speak on something I know about. If this passes all it will do is hurt the honest people. The answer is crack down on the problem at the problem because these folks won't be bothered by the ban.
Once again. . .You people still don't have anything else better to do with your time. There are other issues that are of more importance that need to be addressed. Pit Bull Banning is not the issue here, nor will it be 100% effective. This is not a dying Breed. You can't make it go away. You'll never make it go away. Banning will only make this BREED STRONGER because there are more of us than there are of you. It would be nice if we can make your Breed of Legislation go away. Now that hurts, doesn't it?
The idea that yet another animal is being irradicated from this world ought to be a disgraceful thought for any of us. Those of us who properly care for, love and use our animals AND those of us passing the laws. When I say using, I am in no way hinting towards or supporting the "use" of these animals for fighting. What I am talking about is weight pulling, acting as a "work" dog, or search and rescue. Given the breeds high loyalty, intelligence and willingness to please they are excellent canidates for these and many more. Consider Stubby, the APBT from WWI, or Petey, everyones true favorite "rascal". The issues which need to be PROPERLY addressed are those concerning animal cruelty, neglect and crime. Banning an entire breed due to your media-fed education, thereby punishing not only the animal, but also the caring APBT owners, is not the answer. Those of us who properly educate ourselves on the breed, train our dogs in a loving establishment should not be unable to own our desired breed.
Those ignorant bastards fighting, abusing and neglecting the animals should be.
This bill will do nothing to help whatever situation the state thinks they currently have. How will legislation help? You need to attack the heart of the problem--and that is IRRESPONSIBLE OWNERSHIP.
there are far more species of animals that are more deadly to both people and animals. such as rattle snakes, scorpians, etc yet the pitbull which is wired the same as any other dog is being singled out
Good to see the Georgia lawmakers hard at work, drafting inane and poorly written bills to punish the victims of ill treatment instead of punishing the real problem- dog owners who mistreat their dogs...
Meet some of the good owners and their dogs and then you will see it's all in how they are raised... and remember terriers bark it doesn't mean their gonna kill ya.
PUNISH THE DEED NOT THE BREED...I THINK YOU GUYS SHOULD PUNISH IRRESPONSIBLE BREEDERS NOT THE ONES WHO REALLY CARE FOR THEM AND LOVE THEM AS MUCH AS WE DO...GET TO KNOW OUR BREED DONT JUST DO THIS BECAUSE OF ALL THE MEDIA HYPE....OUR DOGS ARE JUST LIKE ANY OTHER DOG WITH THE SAME FEELINGS
Let's see maximum sentences for those who cruelly use these dogs for illegal "sport". Do not punish the breed and responsible breeders and owners due to the actions of a group of people who abuse these dogs. TREAT THE DISEASE!
This bill misses the mark and will incorrectly harm many law abiding pet owners and their safe family pets.
Instead, I urge the lawmakers to attack the root of the problem and go after the people staging and participating in these dog fights, or those owners who are irresponsible. Don't punish everyone indiscriminately for the deeds of a few.
