I support this petition because I own 2 pitbulls and have 2 little children and they are great dogs! Its not the dogs fault they are some times trained to fight. My dogs are wonderful, fun dogs!!
Breed specific legislation is akin to race specific legislation, if we allow the government to say what breed dog we can and cannot have what comes next, 10 years down the road are they telling us that we cannot breed amongst different races of people?
The dogs are the innocent ones, they shouldn't be punished for irresponsible owners! Owners either ignore their pit bulls aggressive behavior or, they build their pet's anger up! I mean, some people use pit bulls for dog fight, for pete's sake!

Legislators should educated that banning a specific breed of dog could only be declared constitutional if there were scientific genetic proof that a specific breed of dog is dangerous. There is no scientific proof that any one breed of dog is more or less dangerous than another. The breed bans placed on Pit Bulls and other breeds are clearly unconstitutional, which is why 11 states in the United States that have passed laws making it illegal to declare a dog dangerous by breed. because i have two pitbulls and my daddy got a yard full of them that he lets his grandson go around so if they ain't attacking a 2 year old child for hitting them the temperment must be pretty damn good. I love my dogs and they love me just as much. Sapphire is a year and a couple of months old and i've only heard her bark once.

K-9 Corps. America was so proud of this American breed that the Pit Bull became the military's mascot during WWII. 84% of Pit Bull that take the American temperament test passed. The same number of Shelties had a 44% passing rate. The point is this breed is a victim of human cruelty and false media and the above is only a few examples.

I have owned alot of animals that people would say they were dangerous around kids none of them has ever attacked anyone or anything just like my pitt he is the most gentle dog i have ever owned its the owner not the animal punish the owners not animals that arent vicious

Ignorance is a crazy thing. Aparantly it's discrimination is okay today. I got a 80 pound all muscle pitbull that gets along with people,dogs,and cats alike. ESPECIALLY children! AND HE WAS ADOPTED. I find it so hard to believe that people try to ban a breed because they don't know anything other than dog-fighting. You know kids that get mauled- parents- keep better track of your kids and everyone- a chihauha has attacked me more times than i can count, it just doesn't have the means of doing any harm. Because of neglegence by the owners some owners and parents, and people, these dogs will stay having a bad name. My AMARU I couldn't live without, I've had other dogs and my pitbull is by far the greatest dog i've ever had, I couldn't trust an animal with me or the people around me more. The owners should be punished not the breed. When i got my baby he was not trained and very hyper. A little excersize love and disipline that dog sits stays lies down will come give me a hug and kiss when you ask. People are out of thier minds to even consider breed specific legislation.
You people need to realize that it isn't the dog's fault! A dog will act aggressively or politely depending on how it is raised! The animal has no control over which owner it gets. All dogs, no matter the breed could bite and kill if they went to the right place. BAN BAD OWNERS! Leave the dogs alone! BSL is wrong. I do agree, however, that all current dogs and cats in the world should be spayed and neutered. It makes them healthier and improves their temperment. Also lessens the likelihood of them wondering off.
I support this petition because we rescued a pitbull mix who had been left for dead after some sick person tried to fight him. Not only is the the sweetest and most loving dog we've ever had, but he also shares our home with 2 other dogs and 4 cats, and he gets along with ALL of them. With love and the proper upbringing, any dog can be rehabilitated. It is ridiculous to ban them just based on their breed.

A pitbull is only as mean as the owner makes it. My best friend owns about 4 pitt bulls and they are very nice. every dog risks a chance to snap so why just target pitts?
I have owned and my son owns a wonderful pit bull by the name of Angel. These animals are wonderful and loyal dogs who have been mistreated in most cases and abused. Are we going to round up every abused child and muzzle them also. I feel the people who own these dogs in most cases take wonderful care of them and should not be targeted because of the wayward people who are ruining these wonderful breed.
I have had several American Staffordshire Terriors. These are very intellegent animals--which is why they were the first Police Dogs, and why Peddie from the Little Rascles was a American Staffordshir. It's a shame what "Bad Owners" have done to this wodnerful Breed.

I support this petition because I have a BlueFawn Pit bull and she is like our child. She loves people. our 10 year old daughter can give her commands and she obeys them like she would if my husband or i had given them. She is great with other animals. We have a cat and they love eachother. She loves people in general and would NEVER hut anyone or anything. It angers me that anyone can single out one type of dog to say that they are all vicious. Any dog of any size that someone could encounter out in public could be a dangerous dog. it is up to the owners of ALL dogs to treat them with respect and teach their dogs to be obedient and keep them under control all the times. Maybe its time that the owners of all vicious dogs pay the price for the harm THEIR dogs inflict on others and not hurt the rest of us and our dogs that dont fall under the catagory of "Vicious dogs".
I am wholeheartedly agreeing with this petition. They are attpemting breed-bans in several places in Canada as well and it is not the animals fault in any matter! The responsibility lies solely on the person or persons training these animals. If you take away the breed "pit bull" you are then going to have idiot people traing newer meaner poodles! it is never going to end...it is not the breed that you need to ban, it is regulating stupid people from owning good animals!
I think this is extremely stupid. People are bitten more by small dogs than large ones, but you don't see a bill against owning a pomeranian or a yorkie!
I feel that we should have the right to choose what kind of animal we own. My wife and I breed pitbulls and are registered with the ADBA as breeders, all of are dogs are registered, why should I have to get rid of my dogs just because there are alot of irresponsable "backyard breeders" out there, those are the ones they should be targeting. All of my dogs are well taken care of. Maybe these politicians should do a little research on the breed. My kids 4 and 11 love to play with the dogs, they are very friendly and well mannered, as they should be.
I believe people should be allowed to own any breed of dog that they choose. Just because some people are irresponsable with there pets, does not mean we should all be blamed. All of our dogs ar registered and we have a kennel liscense issued by the ADBA. We live on over an acre of land so why should I have to give up my dogs.
Any dog of any breed can become dangerous if abused or trained to fight. Enforce humane animal treatment laws and punish the criminals who train fighting dogs!
I think these dogs should be banned. I have 2 Grandsons that live next door to about 12 pit bull dogs. I live in terror that my Daughter or them will be harmed or killed by these dogs.

That is the true issue. We are not a country where our government dictates what we are or whom we become or how many children we may have, the statue of liberty herself stands for FREEDOM!!! Do I own these man eaters, well thats not realy the question, I have never owned a man eater, I own family loving loyal, well disciplinded animals. I am a responsible American whom is not a law breaker. If you realy want to put things in perspective, what about the man who killed an innocent child after he raped her, she was six years old, he took her from her own house and now she will never have children of her own, she can not! he did not get neutered, or killed, he go 20 years that our tax dollars will plentish him with cable, shcooling airconditioning etc... I love all animals, they are vital to us humans, if you say I hate all pits I will ask you , have you ever owned one? Most people will tell you they have not. Cars kill people, do we take them away? smoking does nothing but kill you, are they banned? I dont get where all this is comming from, to be honest I do, insurance companies, that is where it all comes from. I pay auto and home owners insurance every month of my life money and maybe in all my life I have a claim if at all and they freak out on payiny out, that is the real target here, they want your money but dont want to pay anything out. It's not the breed, an ankle bitter can tear up a small child. The top dogs dont want to sink thier teeth into this because with correct reasurch they wont be able to fight. Teach, dont harm. Make it any person wanting to own a large dog or any dog for that matter take a small corse to learn how to correctly care and be responsible for that animal and there would be less accidents.
