Do you also ban other races of humans? Then why discriminate against other breeds of dogs? Why not educate instead of remaining ignorant? Anyone who has ever owned a pitbull knows that these dogs are the most gentle loyal breed and will stay by your side always. It is not the dogs intention to harm anyone. It is the owner's responsibility to raise them up in the way they should go. Punish the owners instead!

Our Goverment representatives who are too lazy & indifferent to really care don't understand how much a bill like this will take away from human need. Bills like this are no real solution. Try using a little more brain & heart! I just lost my dearest friend, a Pit bull, who has played a huge part in saving & giving this disabled Vet quality of life. T h e K a r i z m a o f K a d e ! His wholehearted exuberance, upon my returns! The intensity of his passion for our love! His dedicated devotion to staying beside me! The enthusiasm of his excitement for a treat or a meal! His preference for a caring embrace over his fondness of groceries! The fervor & liveliness in his desire to play! His comforting snorts of contentment in my ear! The clown in his heart that brings me such cheer! His steadfast concern for my safety & happiness! The loyalty & compassion of his spirit! His total lack of indifference in my life! Those floppy ears & his look when he tilts his head in curiosity! The meaning of unconditional & importance of time! His heroic efforts to better my soul! As one of god’s angels, no one better have I ever known! This is the Karizma of my dear Kade! In the river of my heart, the best spot he is laid! Rest in peace my cherished one!

While these are dogs...This bill reminds me of the time this country wouldn't allow people to vote or do much of anything because of the color of their skin. After all these years, our government still hasn't evolved. You can't legally discriminate against people anymore so you have moved on to animals? Creatures that do not have a voice to defend themselves. Wow, this really says a lot about your state of mind. If you decide to wake up, think about this; It is the OWNER that raises the animal to attack and be vicious. A pup is not born to be this way. It is the environment in which it is raised. Punish the deed, not the breed.

Hello..i Have owned pit bulls for 15 years of my life and had never had a problem with biting or attacks on anyone. My female and male will lick you to death and they sleep with my kids every night and they are very well tempered dogs. When ever there is a case of dog attacks on people,,,,yes the pit bull will be the main dog targeted, due to them being popular as fighting dogs.People mistreat them and teach them to attack and pit fight. Its not the dogs fault,,,its the ignorant person teaching them to do so.But none says anything about rott attacks,dobermans,chows.. ...its allways "pitts" and thats wrong,,,If you treat your dog with love and respect,,,it will do the same to others....blame the people making this breed bad....Humans kill every day...do we ban humans?...hmm I think people need to realize...who to blame!!! its not the breed... There was a pomerian that killed a infant baby and mauled it to death... but no one wants to ban pomerian's do they?Tiger's attack their owners at zoo's and circus's...are we banning tigers from being in zoo's and circus's...NO!! So we as people should protect the bully breeds....and make a good name for them..... Lock up the people making them mean animals..no the breed,,,,,peace from electroearwig

I don't own a pit bull, but am vehemently opposed to any breed-specific legislation. Time and time again it's proven, irresponsible breeders and owners are the cause of poorly socialized animals and improperly supervised animals. This is what leads to dog bites and attacks by ANY breed - including the other breeds that lead the dog bite statistics compiled by the CDC. Other jurisdictions have struck down breed-specific legislation identical to this as vague and impossible to enforce. As it has been said before, punish the deed, not the breed - and let's prevent the deed by working to punish irresponsible owners before dog bites can happen too.

Punishing the breed is not the answer, but to punish those who use this wonderfull breed for dog fights that is the answer. Baan the breeder of owning any animal now and in the future.

Punish the deed and not the breed! I work in an ER that saw more patients last year than any other in my state. Recently a child was brought in from a "pit-bull" bite. It didn't take long before the media came the place was swarming with local news crews. As a APBT breeder and fancier of game dogs, I did my own investigation and found out the dog in question was black and tan, and unless old J.P. had left some stud semen in a freezer for someone to find, I'd say we had a Rottie mix to blame. But of course, a "pitbull" brings a bigger audience than a "rot-mut."

Pit bulls are Not Dangerous.... Yeah there are some that are aggressive toward strangers, but Not all Pit Bulls are like that. Even the one that are aggressive toward strangers there's another Dog breeds that are Aggressive too but your not banning them. Like the German Shep EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE dog there's some case that I seen German Shep attack about 4 times, but the owner pay alot of money for that dog to Not to be put to sleep. But if Pit Bull attacks something or someone for the first time you the government or who ever is in control, DON'T THINK TWICE ABOUT PUTTING THE PIT BULL TO SLEEP. Do You Think That's Fair. WELL I DON'T....

What will you do when the next breed of choice for these idiots becomes the Labrador Retriever? or the Greman Shephard? How about placing a ban preventing these idiots from owning pets, or better yet, why don't you neuter them so they can't breed any "vicious" children!!

Every expert in the US and Canada REJECTS breed specific legislation. This includes the Supreme Court of Alabama. Michigan has revoked BSL as have many other places because it does not work. Do not be breed specific, instead you need to enact tough, generic dangerous dog legislation, and even tougher animal abuse laws to protect the population of your State. Owners who train their dogs to be "human" aggressive have lost their humanity and do not deserve the privalage of animal ownership.

This is absolutely ridicules. Yet another example of government thinking they need to step in and baby sit people. Why not make the dogs owners accountable instead of the dog? Any dog can kill if its abused and taught to do so. These dogs aren't born bad, they are brought up to be that way by stupid people. I don't know what lobbyist brainstormed this idea but this is a absolute waste of tax payer dollars and time.

That is breed discrimination! If you pass this law, than every one who owns a poodle will need to also comply to this law as the poodle breed is known to be dog and people aggressive more so than any other breed. Poodles, chuhahuas, dobermans, german shepards, are more agressive than American Pit Bull Terriers.

Be responsible and control your pet. The owner is liable for a pet's action so enforce regulations on owners NOT the animals. Require license for breeding and ownership if need be. Guns are dangerous and require licenses so put the restrictions on ownership. Every animal has the right to be born and raised.

Words cannot explain the extent of my frustration when reading the implications of House Bill 78. As an American citizen of this democratic nation, I think that it is absurd that we've come to this. As an American, we should be able to own ANY social animal that we so choose to. All dogs are apart of our families. We have enough issues that are tearing families apart, we do not need to add to the problems that contribute to dysfunctional homes. As a resident of Georgia, I am embarrassed at how we continue to fight, argue and politic over such minute matters such as flags, dogs and other non-progressive issues. As a state representative, can't you find something more serious to fight for. Why not fight for equal rights, why not fight for raising minimum wage, creating better pension programs, focus more on the war on drugs, AIDS, cancer research, hell, better roads, the traffic alone is out of control. Pitt Bulls are just as friendly as any other dog breed. It's not the dog that's out of control, it's the owners that raise them to be vicious. Why don't you representative ban parents from poor parenting. As an eduator, I cannot begin to explain how many cases of neglect I've witnessed. I think that you've missed the mark on this judgement call. There are far too many pressing issues that someone with your influence can and should focus on. I think that it is shameful that we, as a state cannot move forward at a faster pace, it's ridiculous that we are still a "right to work" state with no real work unions. Let's stop thinking so small and focus on the big picture. If this bill is passed, I will no longer wish to stay in this state. I think that many of the decisions made here are ridiculous and ignorant and this will definitely have to be the final straw for me.

I am appalled at this attempt to deny any willful owner of their right to own a social animal. We live in a Democratic society and I think it's only fair that we as citizens of this country have the right to own whatever socialized pet that we want. Please have some sensitivity towards this matter. There are many more important and critical issues that we can focus on in Georgia. As a resident of this state, it's almost embarrassing. We continue to focus on minute issues such as flags, dogs and other non-progressive movements. Let's try to get labor unions in Georgia, increased minimum wage, better health care and pension, issues that are KILLING the economy and people. Let's step it up people.

It's been proven banning specific breeds does not work. You need to convict and punish the horrible people that abuse these animals. The animals are the victims. They are not born vicious, people make them that way! By banning them, you will create a black market for these poor animals.Try investing some money into abuse and neglect enforcement, that's the only way you'll see change. It's not the breed, it's the irresponsible, stupid, ignorant people that think fighting dogs is an easy way to make money. These same people are the ones that breed the dogs to their own relatives, which everyone with any common sense knows you don't do that ever, for numerous reasons. Our legislators need to do some research on this. It's the owners/handlers that cause the problems, not this particular breed or any other breed. It's all about money and irresponsible people.
