Viacom Inc. recently announced that because of low ratings, they planned to ask for a fee increase of 22% to 36% for their channels. To avoid raising prices for Time Warner Cable subscribers, TWC was forced to remove the following channels:

Comedy Central, CMT: Pure Country, Logo, Palladia, MTV, MTV 2, MTV Hits, MTV Jams, MTV Tr3s, Nickelodeon, Noggin, Nick 2, Nicktoons, Spike, The N, TV Land, VH1, VH1 Classic, and VH1 Soul.

Viacom wants you to call your cable companies and complain, so your shows will go back on, but you'll get those extra fees, meaning millions of more dollars in Viacom's pocket.

We're here to protest Viacom, not the cable companies, who are trying to protect our bills from fee increases. There is a lot of misdirected anger towards TWC, but the real enemy is Viacom, who wants to take your money during our economic downfall. They will continue to try making a negotiation, but we here would like to put pressure on Viacom so we get the best of both worlds: no extra fees, while also getting our channels back.

Please sign the petition, and stop Viacom to get your channels back.

They have until 12:01 AM on January 1st to come to an agreement, or Viacom pulls the plug. TWC refuses to negotiate and give their customers higher fees, and Viacom refuses to have the programs on if the fees don't go up. I expect that they won't come to an agreement, and it could be days, if not weeks, until the channels are returned.

This is not TWC's fault. Those messages you see on television? They're from Viacom, and while they say your channels are going away, they won't tell you that it's them who will be doing it.

Some have complained that we will only be charged an extra 25 cents, and they are correct. But when 7 million people pay that, they are getting millions of extra dollars, just because they said so. That's called extortion, where if we don't hand over the money, we pay the consequences.

Back TWC, protest Viacom, and help end this standoff.

READ RIGHT AWAY!

Time for the final phase of the plan. Go to http://www.viacom.com/contact/Pages/default.aspx and send a complaint to Viacom. You are the ones who realized that it was them behind the problem, not TWC. Hopefully TWC will be victorious and our channels will remain intact. If not, no matter how difficult, try to boycott their programming and resort to watching something else.

Viacom has used trickery, extortion, dirty tactics, and outright lying to get things their way. Now it's time for you to make a difference.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Great job everyone! I emailed Viacom the link to this petition, and it might have been influential.

Anyways, it seems for now that our channels are still intact! After searching the news though, it is said that they came to an agreement, but the details have not been fully released. At midnight, the two companies contacted one another and added an extra hour to the schedule. The made some kind of deal that allowed our channels to stay on. Hopefully over the next few hours, it will become clear what had actually happened, and whether Viacom will successfully steal our money or not.

I'll be keeping you updated throughout the day.

I support this petition!! Time Warner consistantly raises their rates, yet there are no new channels being added, we still dont have the NFL network because they refuse to put it on basic cable. Had they not raised my rates two times over the past twelve months I would see their point in regards to this, but that is not the case. Viacom brings the most popular channels to us, because of this they have every right to ask for an increase in their rates.

I support this petition. There is no justification for this pay increase. If the economy were different, maybe, but the worth of the MTV network's channels have not increased over the years.

I support this petition. This is outrageous. IF we lose those channels my cable bill better go down if I am not getting all the channels I orginally payed for.

I support this petition. How much money is enough? To take it from the very people who support you?
