Dear Oge-Chi's management:

We, the undersigned, urge you to cancel the "Girls Gone Wild" event scheduled on April 20, 2007 at Oge-Chi's, 204 Draper Rd. NW, Blacksburg, Virginia. As you know, the national promoter of GGW, Joe Francis, is currently in jail for threatening seven women he made pornographic films of when they were underage. You may be unaware, however, that local promoters of GGW events are also being prosecuted. A bar owner in Akron, Ohio recently plead guilty to two misdemeanor charges, including selling alcohol to a minor, was fined $2,000 and given a six-month suspended sentence, because of a GGW visit to his establishment. Since this event promises to bring a known criminal element to Blacksburg, we urge you to cancel this and any further appearances.

Should you decide to continue however, we intend to bring this matter before the Montgomery County Alcoholic Beverage Commission by entering a remonstrance when Oge-Chi's liquor license is up for renewal on 11/30/2007. The ABC rules of Virginia for licensees states "Do not allow any lewd, obscene, or indecent conduct, literature, pictures, films, slides, or videos on the premises." [COV ยง4.1-225] Maintaining a "noisy, lewd, disorderly or unsanitary establishment" is grounds for which the Board may suspend or revoke licenses. We believe that a screening of the GGW video shot at Ogi-Chi's, which we intend to arrange for the Board, will demonstrate lewd, obscene, and indecent conduct on the premises of Ogi-Chi's.

Kindly reconsider your invitation to GGW.
Sincerely,

This petition is now closed for signatures. I have heard that the Girls Gone Wild event was to be canceled even before the horrific events of this week. In any event, it is canceled now. I am very proud of our community for banding together in this way and thank you all for signing this petition, it made a huge difference. Continue to take care of each other.

I can't understand how things like this even get started, are girls today that desperate for attention? If they would put half their energy into getting an education, maybe a suitablle female could run for president...some day

I think the girls on these types of videos are degrading themselves and should think about their families looking at them

Please show this community some respect, especially at this somber time, and stay away. The girls of this community, whether they support GGW or not need to focus on regrouping and recovering from this tragic loss here in our community.

I pray this event will not take place. It is truly a disgrace to women and the people of Blacksburg. There are more important things in life.....

Please cancel this event. It is disrespectful to the women on this campus and the community as a whole.
