The undersigned support gender inclusive housing at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This is an issue of students' rights, more specifically the rights of students who identify outside of the gender binary. We believe that students should be allowed to room with anyone, regardless of either person's sex, gender, or gender identity. The current Board of Regents policy regarding roommate selection discriminates against transgener students, in direct opposition to their non-discrimination policy, which includes gender identity and expression.

I support this petition. Everyone should be treated with enough respect to be included in the normal procedings of such things

I FULLY support this petition and think that if UW housing wakes up and realizes that THIS is NEEDED, it will be the FIRST step in the UW-Madison being considered, yet again, progressive. I think that if we do not, another institution will, and the director of housing will deeply regret not creating this and will recognize (too late) his mistake!
