Hi, my name is Atiya Shahid I am a sixth grader at McKinley C.J.A and I made this petition to inform you about the reasons for cell phones in schools. 1. The importantance of students. 2.When walking home in a bad neighborhood. 3. Intruders in the building. These three things have to do with us because what if something happened and phones were not accessible in the surrounding you are in at the moment and you don’t have a cell phone. On February Seventh 2006 we had three young men intrude our school as a joke. One person was physically injured. What if it wasn’t physical? What if they would have had a gun? A lot of students were afraid because of this incident, if it wasn’t physical who would have taken the blame when the student ended up shot. We need cell phones for our own protection. So, we as students of McKinley need to feel safe. If you would please adjust this system we would appreciate it. A suggestion is we have drop-off boxes in our advisories where everyone put their cell phones in their advisories in the morning at a drop-off box, and in the evening retrieve them.
