Relocate Goldman Sachs to Haiti
Published January 17, 2010
In an interview with The Times, Goldman Sachs CEO and chairman Lloyd Blankfein was quoted as saying that as a banker, he is "doing God's work."
At the end of 2009 Goldman Sachs set aside 18.8 Billion dollars ($18,800,000,000) for employee bonuses. In response to calls to donate money for a relief fund for victims of Haiti's earthquake, Goldman Sachs said they would offer only 1 million dollars -- less than the individual bonuses of their upper-tier bankers.
Spending eighteen-thousand times more money on bonuses for Goldman Sachs employees (who contributed in causing a horrible economic disaster) than for Haitians (who are innocent victims of a natural disaster) seems unfair.
This petition suggests a simple solution.
Sign this petition if you think that Goldman Sachs should be relocated to Haiti and instructed to replace their ranks with an all Haitian workforce. If they follow these guidelines they can keep their generous bonus policy, and their claim to be "doing God's work."
