I don't consider myself a 'goth' but on the other hand i'd like to point out that a goth is much less likely to be 'gramatically-retarded' and not be able to speak porper english. Secondly, a goth is less likely to hang around in a group of 'friends' outside cornershops or on street corners, acting 'hard' and generally trying to find a fight, whereby htey outnumber the intended victim twofold or more. Also a goth is more likely to listen to music that actually requires any amount of musical talent to make AND reproduce live. Rap music, and hip-hop and all other sub-genres, is a total waste of cd's and recording studio time etc... On top of all this, goths dress to make a statement; chavs dress, from what i can gather, either to look even more 'hard' than standing on street corners with friends or because they have some inane belief that they look neither stupid (what normal person would tuck trousers into socks) or dysfunctional (sports clothes are for doing sport in, hence 'sport' clothes; not for wearing n street corners). Finally, a goth is more likely to have an aim in life, perhaps as a 'musician' who plays an 'instrument' (chavs, its something you can make real music out of,real 'musicians' use it to record real music with); whereas the majority of chavs end up as 'stoneware supervisor' in a garden store, or they grow up to become something more and no longer hang around on street corners. Like i said im not really a goth, i enjoy rock music in general and dress 'rocky' but if i had to choose, there's no way i would even consider being a chav.
