GO needs to get its act together.. This lawlessness is too much.. maybe GTA police can stop hanging out at the donut shops and corporate highways and start protecting citizen's properties..
I have aftermarket wheels on my car. It has chrome valves and caps on them. These caps have been stolen several times now at my GO station. I agree with this petition.
My car was stolen from the Meadowvale GO station in Mississauga. It was taken for a joy ride on the 407 (I received a nice bill) and was found by police, two days later at Meadowvale Town Centre. My neighbour's car and co-worker's car were broken into at the same station. My friend's car was stolen from the Cooksville station.
I've had my car stolen from Bramalea once and attempted robbery again 3 mos later. I've also experienced vandalism a number of times at King City. Officials say security is too expensive. I'd be willing to pay a few extra dollars to know my car would be safe. These offences are a huge expense and inconvenience.
These crimes not only occur in the west end of Toronto, but in the east end as far away as Ajax/Pickering and Oshawa.
I know a handful of people that have had their cars broken into and vandalized/stolen.
I've been taking the Go Train since 1996. From 2000-2004, My car audio deck, amp and sub-woofer have been stolen three times. My insurance deductible has been raised to $1000 and now I can't afford to replace the audio equipment. I am now moving to downtown Toronto so that I don't have to take Go Transit anymore. Go Security is pathetic !!!!
GO TRANSIT are least concerned about public welfare and security of their cars etc. Big Bosses at GO are simply enjoying previleges at the cost of commuters.
I too ride the GO but luckily, have had no problems. Brampton GO does not even have attendants in the station during the day and most evenings and going into the far west parking lot after dark is very scary.
My car was stolen from Port Credit GO, and I was nonchalantly given the PEEL Police telephone number when I asked the attendant on duty for assistance. At the very least the cameras must be working and used effectively to identify acts of theft or vandalism in process to stop them, or to assist the police investigation afterwards. Currently I don't know how useful they are.
I think it should be compulsary to have security at the go stations. Using the GO, is supposed to be a convenience, but no one wants to come back to a robbed car, or NO car at all. I've been a victim of it.

It is time that Go Transit should look into parking lot security without further delay. The Go fares are increased every year without any explanation but equivalently services are not provided. If not looked into, very soon time will come when people will prefer to take their cars to work and desert Go trainst.
Don't forget if this has happened to you, after x amount of claims to the insurance Co's, when they renew your insurance they increase your premiums too
Over the last few months there have been many incidences of theft and/or vandalism at Streetsville. Something must be done to prevent this type of behaviour.
I support this petition 200%. At Meadowvale Go Station, not a single month goes by when cars have not been broken into.
Why it does not happen so often in other Parking Lots ?
Mainly becuase GO Station Parking Lots are very quite area. Thieves know that no one is going to come into the lot untill end of day. They also know that GO does not have any Security in these Lots, so have the Luxry of time at thier hands to do what ever they want to do. What doe GO have to say about this ?
The Burlington GO station is a sparkling example. Sparkling because it is littered with broken window glass. You think they might sweep it up once in while to mask the fact that break-ins are regular occurance. And yes, I have had mine broken into as well.
I agree with everyone else on this matter and believe that this is definitely something that has to be increased. I do not want to fall victim to this as well.
I agree 100% with this! It is horrible that we are made to pay a lot of money for monthly unreliable GO Trains and (Pickering Station atleast) doesn't have enough lot space for cars to park near the station and can't even be bothered to build and underground crossover to the far tracks for the people that are forced to park a mile away in the East Lot. Anyway my main reason for signing this petition is because MY truck was one of 10 that got broken into at Pickering station. If there was better security there is no way that someone would have been able to trash 10 cars and get away with it! I trust that my vehicle is in a safe place and this is what happens! If there was a better alternate to GO transit I would definately switch!
The "Go Police" as I call them need to do something about this. I know too many people who have had their cars either broken into or Stolen from the lot.
What is the purpose of me spending $170/month for a monthly pass and having my car broken into, when I can just drive downtown. These GO Authorities should be more responsible and put the money where it is most needed.
I know at least 5 people who's cars have been broken into at the Streetsville and Cooksville station parking lots. They (GO Authorities) definitely need to do something!
I support this 100%. Go Transit needs to increase security at the Bramalea Station Parking Lot. My car has been broken into 3 times in the last 4 years.
