Someone tried to steal my car on Friday October 23, 2009 at the Bramela GO Station. My car is left in an undrivable state and I dont think there is any way of finding out who tried to steal my car from the GO Station. I support this petition.
I support this petition. If you victims had to pay out of your own pocket for replacement of cars, repairs etc... then don't buy that next ticket or pass. If they do their inspections, just tell the inspectors that they should patrol parking lots instead of trains. Then if the inspector insists on seeing your ID then think about one thing: ESCAPE.
My car and the car beside mine was broken into yesterday (Nov 22/07) at the Brampton Go Station and they took all of the audio equipment and broke the dashboard in my car. I think the damage is well over $5000 to my car alone. This was the First and LAST time I am taking the GO Train. I would rather stay stuck in traffic (not like the go train was on time anyways).
My car was broken into yesterday at Bramalea GO station. Deck is gone and battery wires were sliced. GO Transit is doing nothing. Police aren't either. So now I pay higher premiums. Did I mention it was only my second day parking at Bramalea?
I've been a recent victim of theft at a GO station, specifically at the Cooksville GO station. I believe there were 3 other cars that were broken into.
This is happening to me a number of times as well. Twice at Oriel station, and twice at Meadowvale GO station. I feel like reporting it, is just another statistics for them to collect and they are not responding to it.
I read somewhere that less than 1% of riders try to skip paying fares. Yet the effort by GO for ticket enforcement is HUGE. If even a quarter of this effort was redirected toward random monitoring of GO parking I believe it would be a HUGE theft deterrent. But there is nothing in it for GO Transit. Until GO Transit is made more accountable for car damage/theft, parking security levels won't improve.
Cuz my car got broken into twice in 2 weeks at Streetsville GO. They'res 2 cameras in the whole lot and who knows if they are even real and work. The GO keeps rising fares, The Government encourages people to take Public Transit as well. It's about time they provided a little security to their customers.
I have been broken in three times over a few years. A security guard during the day will solve the problem but that is too easy of a solution for the Govt to understand. By the way, wouldn't one security person be cheaper than two cameras (if they work?) in the long run.

I've been lucky on that front, but those idoits sure have enough PARKING TICKET officers around.
Clarkson GO station fills up completely at around 8:00AM, leaving everyone else to be "creative". In the past years there has never been a problem, but in the past 2 months I've recieved 4 ridiculous parking tickets $25 each, due to those morons not providing enough parking in the first place (and leaving great parking spots wasted cause they are too stupid to paint some lines). That was until yesterday when the idiots started doling out $100 parking tickets.
How about instead of your gung ho idiots smacking parking tickets on everyones car that don't go in to work at 7:00 AM and is lucky enough to get a spot, and put some of these people watching for thefts at these "bad" stations.

transit system of a city with a population of only 90,000 once had 1,100,000+ boardings per year.And that was when Columbia only had 50,000 people. Now its only about 450,000. Why should we settle for less? Your republican lifestyles reject the use of public transit. Stop them now!

Didn't realize that theft & vandalism was such a big problem at GO. It's certainly unacceptable. Glad that initiative was taken & that something is being done about it to make people feel safer.
It wouldn't be too hard to put some hidden cameras on the premises. Atleast some of these repeat offenders would be on tape.

Priority should be given to cars parked at GO stations especially ones that don't have any service during the day. My car has been broken into and vandalized multiple times at the Richmond Hill GO station.
I just had all of my stereo equipment stolen out of my car at the Milton GoStation, and someone else had their window smashed and dash ripped apart (in an attempt to steal) the same day. This MUST be stopped! I have contacted the GoTransit Claims Officer (i.e. the "We don't take responsibility" person) but they did not want to help me at all.
The cameras must be just decoys if they don't let anyone see them. HOWEVER - GO security/parking enforcers are very quick to issue parking tickets to legitimate GO riders - friend of mine said her sister came to pick her up - pulled over to ask questions to the GO security guys who were at the station - they ticketed her even before the she began to ask her question.
I have had my car keyed at the Pickering Go Station but that was nothing compared my car being stolen on Oct 5 04 out of the Ajax Go Station. After speaking to Police they told me that the GO lots are heaven for thiefs. Most cars unattended for over 8 hours a day.

I took the go for 6 months in 1999, parking at their lots. When my car was broken into for the 4th time during that period, I stopped using the GO, and still haven't gone back.
My car has been broken into and a friend's car got stolen and GO doesn't really seem to care yet they keep hiking up fares. GO security is ridiculous and this situation MUST be resolved right away. Why have cameras on the lot that don't even point to the cars? What are you watching? The ducks?
GO needs to beef up on security for the commuters parking in their lots. Just because most commuters are forced to use GO due to its convenience, we are sure not at their mercy. This is an excellent forum to ensure that systems designed to help the public, actually help and not hurt the public.
My car has be broken into atleast 6 times. My insurance has gone up because of it. Did you know that there are cameras at all stations. They are too lazy to check the tapes. "GO Police" refuse to allow the paying public to view the tapes. this how they justify their miserable existance. We should all stop paying for our rides until these grotesque commuting conditions are fixed. Can some post a phone # for customer service? Lets tell them what we think.
At a time when GO Transit along with TTC is trying to increase ridership, security issues in parking lots should be seriously looked into more closely!
