We live in probably the most materialistic country in the world. And all it does is make us less human to each other. We spend so much time worrying about working longer hours to buy more things or bigger things and for what reason other than to have what we are told we should have. We walk by each other not noticing each other, or the beauty of the world around us, because we are always thinking about what we have to do to sustain or improve our life. How about living more simply and putting other people as a priority? How about smiling at a stranger you pass instead of talking on your cell phone all the time? How about really looking around you and seeing what you are missing every day? Do you think that once you buy that plasma TV it will be enough in 2 years? It is never enough. Buy what you need but, if you have to spend money, travel the world simply and meet other cultures and make friends. Educate yourself...our nation has so many resources to expand our minds. Help people. Help voiceless animals. The more we buy and build, the more we destroy the environment of animals. And what right do we have to always take at the expense of others? On your deathbed are you going to be thinking of that awesome TV you have or how big your house is? No, you will reflect on the EXPERIENCES in your life....family, friends, travel. Stop being materialistic. Stop pitying yourself for what you don't have and appreciate what you DO have. Chances are it is a lot more than many others in this world, especially the Third World nations. Get back to the basics - you will feel a weight lift off you and you will want to spend more time with your loved ones. Is it that important to often work a 12-hour day if it is only for more than your basic needs?

Greed is NOT good. Caring more about where our human race is heading is good.
