Grief is not discussed in our culture and can be extremely isolating. This initative is important and warrants broad support.

Kudos to you Bernadette for pursuing this very worthwhile issue. Grief has immobilized me at times over the past 12 months. I watched my mom suffer for several weeks before dying in June 2005 and then watched my brother go through the same process in July 2006. I have dealt with and overcome many challenges in my life, but losing Mom and Buddy has been too much for me at times. May God bless and guide you in this important work. Crissie

I am glad to see the recognition of this situation, everyone experiences it, everyone is touched by the loss even if they don't want to admit it at the time. I fully support this effort.

For too long the treatment for grief and bereavement has addressed the intellect. The Grief Recovery Institute has something that addresses the heart. I hope the ACA will pay attention to this petition and that members of the psychiatric community who are not familiar with the work of The Grief Recovery Institute would check out their site (www.grief.net). While Grief Recovery may not be the only answer, it has worked very well for members of my community who have participated in our groups in Northeast Ohio (www.griefrecoverycenter. org)

I fully support grief and bereavement counseling. Most recently I lost my best friend and after reading about grief recovery I reallize what an important matter this is that has been overlooked for much too long. Therefore, I totally support creating a grief and bereavement branch.
