We shouldn\'t need a petition to ask that the will of the Guru be followed, i.e. that Sikh woman are afforded the same rights as Sikh men. Sadly this petition is needed, however, to combat the offenses against women seen daily at the Harimandir Sahib.
I support this Petition. Its high time we even stopped dicussing issues like this...in sikhism equality of genders is undisputed according to the gurbani itself so who are we to open a forum on that. The need it to start candle light protests outside places where this norm is flouted!
I support this Petition. Sikhism is about equality - its unfortunate that many of these individuals in the temple do not understand the definition of "EQUALITY"
I support this petition.
Its really disappointing to learn the views of sikh clergy on this. Why do they want to deny the honour of sewa and kirtan to Women? what are they afraid of? Didn't Mai Bhago faught in the battle with the men? Didn't Mata Khiwi Ji prepared langar? Didn't Bibi Bhaani Ji did sewa for Guru Amar Dass Ji?
It is really emberrasing to find sikh leaders so rigid on the matter and polluting the image of sikhism - the religion that gives utmost importance to equality of all people, irrespective of caste, color, sex, or religion.
i Strongly support this petition.
I support this Petition. This is the only religion in the world where our gurus from guru Nanak Dev ji to Guru Gobind Singh Ji said that women are equal. Westen world to day talking about equal rights when our gurus said this thing more than 5 centuaries ago. Women, I strongly support this petition
Narinder Paul Singh.
I support this Petition. If they do not want to give this right to women then they need to stop the Asa Di War Path every morning. Do not do the Path and contradict it every day.Plese SGPC havesome respect for the Guru's Word."so kyon manda aakhiye jit Jamai Rajan"
I support this petition.but where are the women seeking this equal rights for , as far as my knowledge is concerned the country does provide the same in the constitution.
I support this petition but would further like to add that equality for women in sikhism should prevail not only in Harmandar Sahib but in all gurudwaras/ everywhere.
Is it possible to elaborate this petition more precisely? I am neither in favor not against this petition.
If you guys remember - In canada Sikhs tried to change seating plan in community kitchens in Gurudwaras (Sikh Temples) i.e. to have Chairs and tables instead of having langar (meals) on floor, what happened we are divided into hardcore and modern sikhs.
I support this Petition 100%. All are equal in the eyes of God. One should be allowed to sing God's praises in Golden Temple and do seva regardless of gender, caste, and even if they are not baptised.
