I can't believe that Warner Bros would pull such a disrespectful stunt! You don't MOVE a release date to a movie THAT far in advance, after running advertisements saying it would be out in November!
Imagine if Sony had announced that since they were having a hard time obtaining the new parts for the PS3, they weren't going to release ANY. People would've been livid! However, Sony, being the company that it is, held to its promise and released as many PS3s as it could with the materials availible.
The delay just makes Warners Bros look bad, and greedy. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth... something that I wish not to associate with Harry Potter.
I support this petition. I don't believe for a second this is about "reaching a broader base". You folks know the response to this film will be huge WHENEVER you release it. You grossly underestimate the negative fallout this will (has) generated. The very first thing I will do is stop buying WB merchandising. Bad, VERY Bad Decision, WB.

If Late 2008 was a bad time to release the movie, then wouldn't Twilight have waited too? Come on Warner Bros., don't be greedy for more money. The movie is probably done, release it earlier.
There is absolutely no reason beyond greed for pushing the movie back so far. It is unacceptable to do this to the loyal fans who have so eagerly anticipated the movie and made plans around it. CHANGE IT BACK!!
This is ridiculous. Holding back a *finished film* for 11 months just so you can maximize profits from a captive audience? Sounds like WB has been taking some lessons from the record companies. Also, at first glance it sounds like a total joke.
I support this petition. You got us all hyped up waiting for November and then you move it?! Jeez, if you wanted to delay it so long at least have the decency to think it through before you announce the release date. This is just a jerky publicity stunt that is going to anger dedicated fans and possibly damage the profits of the movie. As another fan pointed out to me and I would now like to point out to you is that Prisoner of Azakaban was released in the summer and it made the least of the franchise and Order of the Phoenix was released in November and made the second most, only losing to the first. I can tell you why, because Prisoner of Azakban was a poor adaption of the books while Order of the Phoenix was a great adaption. It is the quality of the movie that is going to make you more money, not the time of year it was released. I could understand if you had to delay the release for a ligitimate reason like pick-up shots or to fix an error or special effects or something that was happening in the post-production. But you're not! And if you are, you are not telling us about it. You're delaying the movie almost a year. We already waited a year for this movie, why do we have to wait a year more? Do you see the dangers of losing the momentum of the Harry Potter series esp since there are no more books coming out? This was a cruel and stupid move on the WB's part and even though I know that I will still probably see it in theaters, I almost hope the movie loses money so you learn you lesson. And I also hope you fire whoever came up with this messed up idea.
