I cannot say much from experience, but from what I see everyday at school and other such places, teenagers feel very pressured into living up to a particular image and putting on an act in order to make friends and impress their peers. It’s as though people don’t know how to make friends anymore and think that they need material possessions such as brand named clothes and money to make people like them. They also believe that without these things, they are not important or significant enough to be noticed...without these worthless items, they are not socially acceptable. Youth at school spend so much time trying to outdo and impress each other that they are wasting their lives; learning nothing of real value. How many teenagers do you see questioning the trends or trying to figure out why they do the things they do? If there were more teenagers who were prepared to step out of the flow and live life to the max, then our future would be in good hands.

Sign the petition if you want to see more teenagers like me trying to do something to help our world become a stronger and brighter place.

everything stated above is true. Too many kids (I’m a teen also) do not care about anything really important. In my driving class, the boys said that they would drink heavily because the only other thing to do (at all) was watch Sponge Bob. That’s exactly what they said! I mean, what about learning something useful that can help a person later in life? Write a story! Learn to draw! Get a pen-pall! Read! Sing! Learn to play an instrument! Dance! Do a sport even! Just don’t do nothing, dash it! I mean, I live in a poor town. I don’t understand why some of these people would not work hard to ensure a secure future (off government assistance). I mean, the town is a wreck, but no one will pick up the litter, or help tear down the many abandoned houses, or even plant flowers to make things look better. Or, better yet, get a job. There are too many lazy people in this world. Come on, people! Do you WANT to sweep floors at mini-mart when you grow up? Believe me, when you become adults, no one will care if you were the hottest, most popular kid in your school. Many of your own peers, like me, don’t care right now.

What Hannah has stated is in fact quite real than we can imagine. The fact that we are constantly trying to copy everything that the media throws at us is quite pathetic, because the media should not be able to buy your soul. It's woeful that we swallow the propaganda and lies. As the song goes,' Don't read beauty magazines; they will only make you feel ugly'.
