The Henry County High School senior class of 2008 would like to break the long tradition of having it's senior class graduate from the Henry County High School football field. The majority of the students have expressed the desire to graduate from a nicer and more tasteful facility. Authorized personnel from New Birth South Baptist Church have offered their facility, which will seat 3,000 people, as an alternative to graduating on the school's football field. Administration at Henry County High school will not allow for this change due to the fact that invitations have already been printed that declare the gradation ceromony will be on the school's football field. The few students that have purchased invitaitons have stated that they are willing to communicate the change to friends and family if it means that they will be able to graduate from a more decent facility. The students graduating from Henry County High School's class of 2008 are concerned about parking, seating, and loitering that will go on during the service. Due to construation, parking may be limited. Due to the fact that there is only one set of bleachers for friends and family to sit on, students are concerned that many will not have seating (which has been the case in years past). Also, due to the fact that there are no limitations on who is allowed onto the football field during the graduation ceremony, many people come to the ceremony for the sake of coming, and these same people take up seating. If the graduation ceremony is held at New Birth South Baptist Church in Morrow, Georgia, these will not be issues. New Birth South is only fifteen minutes away from Henry County High School's football field. Although the ceremony would be held inside of a church, there would be no religion involved. If you are a parent of a current Henry County senior who will be participating in the graduation service, or if you are a current Henry County senior, we ask that you sign this petition in spite of the fact that the graduation ceremony would be held at church, and in spite of the fact that the invitations have already been printed.
