Sheik Hilalis' attempts to secure the freedom of an Australian (or any other nationality for that matter) go beyond the call of duty and in my opinion are worthy of a civil award of this stature. Facing grave danger, this man has sought not to judge but to go and do the work that his faith, and his duty, command him to. It is the duty of the Government to acknowledge acts such as these and Sheik Hilali has shown his country that he is deserving of the honour.
