Allowing the government to recognize religious holidays, such as Christmas and Easter, as federal holidays violates the non-establishment clause of the Constitution by endorsing a certain religion, in this case, Christianity.

I think they should either get rid of thos religious holidays or make national holidays out fo the holidays of other religions. Like Wicca. I tell my teacher I'm going to a Beltane celebration or a Yule or Lughnasadh celebration she signs me up for counselgin and my abscence is unexcused. Can you say "prejudice" 5 times fast? They should make Hindu, Wiccan, Islamic, and Buddhist National Holidays. But they probably won't because our country is full of self-righteous, prejudiced, narrow-minded, christian arseholes who refuse to acknowledge that someone somewhere might NOT be a Xian. *deep sigh* I'm going to Canada...

hey, i want a day off, alright. I personlly dont give a damn about the religion part. no work or school? kick ass! but while were at it, lets create more religous holidays, like Ramadan, Hunaka, Kawanza, Hitler's Birthday, Niggers Smell Like Shit Day, and Cant think of any more. The point is, we must get more time off. France gives there workers a **** load of off time, and they have some of the best efficentcey levels. ******.

You might add that Christmas was not a federal holiday until 1870 and was strenuously opposed by many Christian sects.

Actually, the only federal holiday that's arguably religious is Christmas, and the religion its celebration endorses isn't Christianity, but mindless, rampant consumption. Maybe instead of removing December 25th from USC Title 5, Section 6013, we should just suggest changing the name of the holiday to "Spendmas," "Debtmas," or "Dumbmas." Happy Holidays!
