If my child is old enough to drive and be employed at the mall - then I believe they should be able to go to the mall when the want to. I dont condon parents from dropping off pre-teen kids for safety reasons.
I also have issue with the fact that there seems to be a socio-economic divide on which malls will and will not be part of this policy. Hampshire mall has the same sort of issues - but there are no plans for MB18 at the Hampshire Mall.
I also would like to know why it is that todays adults forget how quickly what they were like as kids. They all wanted to be hanging out somewhere - and they did. They didnt want to be home with Mommy and Daddy every night. However, in their day they had something that is severely lacking is parental involvement. When I grew up parents knew what their kids were doing and where they were. I am like that with my children. The standing rule in my house is you dont go to the mall unless you have money to spend. I dont let them just hang out. But now they are told they cant even spend their money there without supervision of a parent on certain days. My children have already stated they will bring their money elsewhere - as will I.

Thats the dumbest thign i ever heard! I am a junior and almost 17 years old. I have a car and i can drive but u are telling me that i can't go to the mall on friday and saturday night! I fricken work at the mall i am there every night of the week. So thats really gay to tell me i can go into work but i can't go to any other stores to shop on those nights. First of all the problem if fricken security...maybe if they had more then one guard on at a ****ing time then they would be able to controll crowds. Dude I work at the mall in Journey's and to be honest with you, most of the sales made on Fridays and Saturdays are from kids. This law is bull****. I used to hang out at the mall all the time when I was under 18. This doesn't affect me at all anymore, but i still think it's stupid. You'll never be able to afford to enforce that. The security costs would be phenomenal, and you'd just end up being the fairfield mall all over again.
Getting carded at the door, I mean come on. When I turned 18 I was excited to be able to buy ciggaretts, skratch tickets, play bingo, those are the types of things I want to be carded for. But now, when kids turn 18 they are going to be excited to be let IN A MALL on the weekends, come on now.
I think the mall is doing a big injustice to our teens by restricting them to parental guidance on Friday & Saturday evenings. I feel Pyramid should rethink this policy before it is implemented. I go to the mall often and have NEVER been bothered by any youngsters there.
