I believe that everyone should be able to go to the mall. It is a public place where you should not be able to set an age limit. All the stores/small buisnesses will now lose a lot of business if this continues to happen.

About time they're doing something to clean up Holyoke. What better place to begin than at the mall. Now all the little punks can hang out on your ghetto street corners, where those of us from suburbia will never venture down. Leave the mall to those of us that actually have money to spend.

Your kidding? Are you serious about sending this petition to the Holyoke Mall management? The management will look at this petition and put in in a shredder. Management will tell you that you teens belong in summer school or reform school.

that holyoke mall stuff is so dumb it wont matter. i mean sure, they might follow through, but how will they know if ur 18 or not?are they gonna have guards at every entrance whose gonna ask for ur ID?security?"oh that kid looks tall""im gonna ask him"this will bring racism back in and ethnicity, sexism, everything back to the table. Also, there will be time issues. People will be held up showing security and others their ID's. And there may be something, where the security asks "can i see ur ID?" isn't ID made from your license? What if someone, about the age of 19, doesn't have there license yet, and wants to get in? Those are only a few possibilities, but I won't mind this rule really. The holyoke mall is too crowded anyway, so the mall is actually helping a lot of people out. Lots of annoying, cocky, and egotistical teens won't be vandalizing the place. The mall could be less crowded, but also more crowded with parents made to go! Also, the key thing is saturdays and fridays! Go after school if you can, you got sunday, monday, tuesday, wednesday, thursday to go to the mall! I'll sign the petition, but there are two equal sides to the argument

I am a mother of a 15 year old and I find it very hard to believe that they are going to prevent the kids from going to the mall. I myself have allowed my son to go to the mall on weekends. He shops, eats and goes to the movies. These kids are well behaved kids and shouldn't be punished for being teenagers. I drop my son off and pick him up. I am a frequent mall shopper and I have never had any problems with the teenagers there. I also feel that the same way police officers are guilty of racial profiling I feel that the Mall security will too.

I do not think that the mall should be for 18+ on Friday and Saturday nights. And if you are younger than 18 you have to be there with a parent, that is messed up. The mall is suppose to be a place to meet up with friends and purchase items. If this really does happen I wont shop there anymore, I think that goes for many more people. This will hurt the money intake and the business is going to go down. I don't want to be a 16 year old walking around the mall with my mother. Thanks.

I don't believe it's right to do this. Most of the kids who hang out there are well-behaved. If there are only a few groups of kids who get disruptive you should just kick them out of the mall. It's not fair to teens who go there to shop and teens who don't cause a problem. It's also not fair to teens whose parents HATE the mall. Not a lot of kids will want to walk around the mall with their parents. It's just embarrassing. Adults should think about what they would think if they were teenagers. We keep getting our hang out spots taken away. Pretty soon we're gonna end up hanging out on the street, which is highly unsafe.

The mall will lose so much money. I am a Vermont citizen and the only time my friends and I can go to the mall is after school on Fridays or after work on Saturdays. This mall is the closest mall to us and if you ban 17 and unders from the mall at this hour, you will lose almost all of your Vermont customers. I'm sure that the response to this would be to bring my parent, but my parents don't get home until 6 and then by the time we drive to the mall it's already 7. My parents are not going to waste a half of a tank of gas for an hour and a half of shopping.

I think the policy at the HM is wrong. I been to the mall many times and I had no trouble with the kids. The kids do spend money at the stores. Sure there will be an occasional problem but don't ban all kids for a problem caused by a few. I think the teens should contact the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union ) and let them speak on behalf of the teens. I think the ACLU can convince the HM not to ban teens without parents. Good luck on your petition.

And people who can leagaly drive can't go to the mall. the stores where teens go to shop are stores that adults dont even go in to. so how can we be intimadating and scaring away customers? i think this is messed up and wont work. they let them shop in places that you can go in to from the out side but what is stoping them from going in to say target and in to the mall? and what about when 4:00 comes and people are there how will they make sure every one that is under 18 is with a parent or out of the mall?

On the other hand I spent a good amount of time as a teenager at malls so I can relate to the disappointment. It's too bad there are some bad people who ruin it for the rest.. it's really no surprise the mall wants to do this. Either way -- good luck!

As soon as the rule is in effect, the Holyoke Mall is going to see the difference; however, not in a good way. I'm surprised the stores inside the mall aren't going against the HM Administration. Most of the companies spend millions of dollars a year adverstising to thier main audience: Teenagers. Even if the rule is enforced, I'm sure it won't last long. Bax and O'Brien are awesome, and you know this rule is lame.

Unless you are 18 you have no real rights. Since your on private property you can be arrested for tresspassing. I think the mall is correct in banning individuals under 18 without a parent. There is not much you can do, and the petition will not work. When you young punks start acting responsible then you will be treated as an adult. The cops will be at the mall in force. I'll see you at the booking desk at the HPD. Tell your parents to bring bail money! LOL

If this isn't "biting the hand that feeds you," then I don't know what is! It seems a bit ignorant to blame young people for the financial problems that the mall is experiencing, especially when these problems are more likely the fault of poor management and a bad economy. I hope this idea fails miserably and people begin to realize how irrational their fear of kids really is.

How fast adults forget. The powers that be at the Holyoke Mall never congregated at certain spots in their youth. What more can we take away from this generation? Their last SAFE haven away from home where they can meet, socialize, and grow has been deleted from their lives. I am in my late 50's and am appalled at the action being taken by the Holyoke Mall. Perhaps if your Security were trained properly and did their job the FEW young people who are a problem would be removed. I personally will spend the extra money on gas and frequent the Ct. Malls.

I think one of the major points in all of this is that most children start working at age 16. One of the major employers of teens 16-18 years old is the Holyoke Mall. Are these children going to need their parents to stand next to them in the Gap while they fold down the denim wall? And okay maybe the mall is going to issue some sort of pass to those teenagers that are employees, but what about when they get off of work and want to go shopping, are they going to need their parents to meet them there in order to do so? I can understand the mall wanting to provide a safe shopping environment, however, this is not really the correct way to do so. If anything make the rule under 16. Children under 16 shouldn't have money to spend anyways so they are most likely just there to hang out.

First they take away our right to independantly shop or spend money, what is next? We should not have to suffer for those out there who choose to destroy the simple pleasures of all of us. Rather than banning all citizens under the age of 18, they should inforce stricter security. But of course they can't do that. This would theoretically loose the mall more money. In reality the holyoke mall will loose a majority of their profit by loosing most of their top costomers.

Well I know there are many problems with Holyoke. But as a share holder of many of the companys that own a a store in the mall I'm appalled. I know that many of the young people don't buy a lot of goods at any one time at the mall, however most do purchase an item from one or more of the many restaurants. I do realize this is a privately owned mall so they can ban whom ever they decide to, But we do not have to patronize. As of this moment the Holyoke mall has lost my business. First the young people are banned, next the old people will be banned for walking early in the morning (after all they don't purchase much either). Rogalski Can make all the policy's he'd like but we certainly don't have to shop there. If things happen the way they should establishments will be forced to close (due to lack of income) and Rogalski will be fired. Dictators are always overthrown. One last thought All the young people that are banned now will be vauled customers soon and they will remember this and take their dollars elsewhere!

Teens and their families need to use their economic influence to change this decision. Stop shopping at HM and make sure you tell the store owners between now and Sept 8th that you intend to stop shopping there, and THEN DO SO. Even if you have to shop at another mall that has the same rule, HM will get the message if their business and foot traffic decreases by 50%. Teens, organize your parents!

It is not the responsibility of the Holyoke Mall to take on the burdens of the Town of Holyoke to provide a hang-out for teens. The mall is technically a private place, not a public place. (And I assume the roller skating rink had nothing to do with the owners of the Holyoke Mall either. Why are you kids blaming them?) Maybe the Town of Holyoke needs to look at providing a teen center. It is their responsibility to handle the teen situation, if it is anyone's. Maybe some of the kids should get together and approach the town instead of whining to the mall. Teens could get together and hang out at one another's homes, couldn't they? That's what my boys do. I wouldn't let them waste their time at the mall every weekend, talking and hanging around, flirting with girls they don't know. That's just a recipe for trouble. Parents need to provide a place in the home for teens to hang out where they feel comfortable with their friends. Every group of teens has one or two kids with a home that's fun to hang out in. Maybe they could actually DO something, like play pool or gin rummy in someone's basement. By the looks of the poor writing and filthy language, it looks like a lot of you should spend more time at home studying and less time at the mall. (I mean the mistakes besides the IM and text messaging lingo.) Get your priorities straight. If you don't study now and straighten up your act, you'll have no money to shop when you're old enough to go to the mall without Mommy, because nobody will hire you.

This is a mass action because they say there has been increasing bad behavior by some teens. Hire the extra security to throw out the bad ones. LET THE GOOD ONES STAY. How will our young people learn to be responsible if you don't let them show you that they are. I thought in this country we were all innocent until proven guilty.

Where else can teens go to hang out that doesn't cost money? My ass is poor and can't afford movies or bowling or something.

how is this not age discrimination? in any case, the mall is pretty much the only place that kids 18 yrs and under can go WITHOUT an adult. if you kick the kids out of the mall who knows what they'll end up doing instead. if they're having issues perhaps they should hire more security guards...or is raising the employment rate a bad thing as well?

This is ridiculous because how are they going to know how old each and every person is going into the mall? If they card everyone there will be crazy long lines and people will just be like screw this im not waiting and go somewhere else

The mall is geared for teens. And If you take the teens out of the mall, then income will decrease because your cutting out 80% of the population of people who go to the mall. You need us like a fat kid needs cake!

This mall can't close...even tho I live in Miami...I used to go to the holyoke mall a lot. Holyoke mall introduced me to hanging at the mall and terrorizing people there. They cannot do this! ='[

this is the most ridiculous thing i have EVER heard of. who ever even thought of this new rule is absolutely dumb. the mall is supposed to be a place where friends 18 AND UNDER can go to be social, hang out, and just do regular shopping on their own. kid 18 and under DO NOT need their mommies and daddies by their side as they shop. expecially when kids turn 16-17 years old and get their drivers licnese. most teens drive to the mall. this is stupid, the mall will loose ALOT of money by doing this.

if the mall closes i dont know what im gunna do they already took out the chiopee skating rink..... the mall is the only other place to hang out. this is ridiculous if u cant go to the mall n shop with your friends that how all the stores get there bussiness is teenagers. teenagers dont wanna go to the mall with their parent everyweekend and the parents dont want to be goin everyweekend either. if this goes through your going to lose soooo much business. and then ur gunna open back up to everyone so u dont have to close the mall down... teenagers are the only reason why its still open. its honestly a ****ing gay rule... why would you guys wanna lose 90% of your business... seriously
