The kids are right even though most of them who have high honors can't spell. As long as they are being respectful of others, keeping it down, not swearing so small kids can hear it, and staying out of trouble, why not? One of the kids said it right... when an idividual causes a problem he should be dealt with as an individual. Let them back!!
I just quit my job as a security officer enforcing this rule. It will not work. The PEP officers are dominated by kids themselves and they let their friends in the mall. Just tonight two people one an owner of the store asked me why are there still mobs of kids running around the store when whe are supposed to be letting them out. The securty of the holyoke mall doesn't not have the teamwork mentality to make this work.
This 51 year old scientist supports your petition. This action is improper. All thinking adults should support this petition and should boycott the mall until the policy is rescinded. Activists should picket the mall in an attempt to discourage others from shopping there until the policy is rescinded.
I agree that the proposed policy by the mall owners is wrong. However, your first sentence of your second paragraph is incorrect. Malls are private property and the exist for the purpose of providing income to their owners; not to entertain. Do not assumr that you have any lawful or social right to enter the mall. Your best chance to defeat this policy is to vote with your feet: do not shop at the mall and tell everyone why. The mall owners earn a percentage of the sales from each store; as the stores sales fall the effect will be directly felt by the mall owners. Solidarity is essential!
This is ridiculous. The mall should not be able to ban or restrict teenagers any more than it can ban or restrict African-Americans or any other group. Restricting the rights of a minority because of the actions of some of their members is completely inappropriate, offensive and incredibly un-American. If individuals cause problems, they need to be dealt with individually.
I hope that the people who sign this petition will tell all the companies with stores in the mall that they will boycott all of their stores if the policy is not removed.
I am embarrassed by the adults who ignorantly insult a group of people, many of whom are incredibly intelligent, moral, and productive members of our society. For those of you new to the internet, teenagers are smart enough to realize that you don't need to spell things the way they are spelled in a dictionary to communicate.
okay, first of all teenagers arent idiots or moron or anything else you people are calling us. and most of us DONT cause troble at the mall. thats why they're not letting kids in the mall because we cause trouble? well i think thats what keeps most of us out of trouble. we go to the mall to buy things we want/need. you say we need to be more involved with other things and spend less time hanging around the mall. well yes the mall is a place to go to pass the time..its also a place we go to buy things we need. simple things like clothes. or school supplies. or things for a sport we're participating in. its also a good place to go just to vent to a friend about everything thats going on in your life and to let out some energy walking around and treating yourself to ben and jerrys and a new outfit. there is only a few teenagers who actually go to the mall to cause chaos. and i am not one of them and dont think its fair to have the right taken away from me. and calling teenagers idiots and morons and such is making you look immature. saying we dont have respect for our elders, when you dont have respect for us. we are the future.
this is sick. i mean, most of us wouldn't wanna go w/ r parents, n some of us won't even be able to go. i spend enough time studying to get high honors, and once in a while, i like to go to the mall n get something fly. i've read the articales in the papers, and it's still stupid thinking they'll get more money. we as teens are responsible enough to go to the mall ourselves, w/o having to hold are mommy's hand like when we were younger crossing the street. and it also said one adult may escorte no more then 5 teens, thats so stupid. normally, i go w/ like 10 friends, n now 5 of them won't be able to come. thats so stupid. and they're thinking of doing the same thing to the eastfield mall, thats rediculous
Wow...this is pretty dumb...First of all this rule they have no way of inforcing . Even if they did have enough security gards and such what are they gunna do?...Im sry but rent-a-cops just dont have that much athority to be able to tell me where to be and where no to be. I understand if ppl were doing things wrong that they can get kicked out. But for someone who is just minding their own business giving the mall cash. Why should they have a problem with that? They cant force kids to leave...thats just wrong. Where are we gunna go?...If we dont have our drivers license are they just gunna kick us out?...Second of all i think this IS a marketing ploy...a kind of reverse psycology..tell ppl they cant come and then they end up going... so by doing this they will have a boost of income from people petitioning it...so the best way to show that they were wrong was to just go somewhere else...that mall isnt the best ne ways...BOYCOTT THE MALL
Holyoke mall employees = moronic. Honestly, friday & saturday nights are the most common times for teens to go to the mall. Which means 75% of those teens will no longer show up. You will not see any of them during the school week. & most teens will have weekend jobs now... so you can rule out the morning & afternoons of saturdays. Do you have ANY idea how much business you will lose? Kids who bring their parents will be talked out of buying expensive things. I know my mother does everytime we shop together. I really don't mind bringing my mother, because I am old enough to have a steady job & pay for everything except rent. but some kids just aren't that lucky...
& because that 75% of kids will not be able to get to the mall, there's another 10% that won't WANT to go because they won't see any of their friends there.
So, you're basically screwing yourself. Not only out of money, but having a chance encounter with new friends. Most of the employees are pretty young, & I have funny friends, we make friends easily.
& because the Holyoke Mall is obviously too stupid to realize all of this, I think I'll take my hard earned cash to the Eastfield Mall. Possibly even the Hadley Mall. They are far more kind than you.
Have you seen some of the other comments? People can be such idiots... Look what you started Mike Lemme!
i live in chicopee, when im bored and i want to buy something i go to the holyoke mall, i dont think its right for people under 18 to not to be able to go to the mall. i admit some kids hang around there to much and cause trouble but not all kids. and to whoever is talking **** about not doing homework listen buddy i am on high honors and i go to A&F alll the time just czz ur a loser that has no life other than studying doesnt mean u can talk like that to other poeple
this is not right. adults can be even more troublesome than teens. so why do we have such a bad reputation? we aren't all troublemakers. and the mall will lose a LOT of business and money. so poltically it is a very stupid move.
Alright....they want to take us out of the mall?...do they realize how dumb this is? honestly...now most of us are just gunna get pissed at them, do sit-ins and protest...because they cant ban that too...they're gunna have way more problems than they bargained for and now...yea..they thought they had problems with teens BEFORE? hah....cuz they're too cheap to hire more security guards? thats stupid...if they honestly are going to follow through with this they have to hire a guard for EVERY door in the mall...and we all know this isnt happening...whatever...th ey're the ones that are gunna lose out..who's with me to Eastfield and Hadley Mall?!
okay just one question. how are they going to enforce this rule the saturday before christmas, when the mall is PACKED?! seriously. this new rule isn't going to last.
from reading other signatures, i think we should boycott the mall even when they will let us go. We could go to other malls. They may be farther away but a least they want our buisness!
yah the whole thing about having to have someone 18 or older with you at the mall is stupid..! no one is going to wanna go with their parents...the mall is gunna have alot less buisness...alot more older people are gunna be at the mall than younger people...so then all the stores for teenagers and such are gunna go out of buisness...but whatever...! its gay...
You should also start organizing boycotts of stores that rent to any Pyramid property. Also, just for your information, Pyramid Company of Holyoke, Inc. is not a valid Massachusetts business. They were dissolved by the Commonwealth on 10/19/1983 for not paying their fees and apparently not filing the appropriate paperwork to do business here in the Commonwealth. This can be powerful stuff if you can get the word out before they have their lawyers correct it. They shouldn't be making any rules if they can't follow the rules themselves! Good luck!!!
this is pointless. honestly i could care less bcuz im 19 and i don't live in tax-a-lot mass anymore woot woot.marketing attempts are soo fun lol. keep em out bcuz u know they want in then when they get in they WILL spend money lol.
I doubt that their little plan of action will work anyway, there is no way that the sercurity guards will be able to monitor all the kids in the mall during these times. Anyone who has any comments or any nice post about how the mall is sick of babysitting blah blah please tell it to someone who cares. We are all being punished because of the immautre kids who dont know how to act in the mall. They have ruined it for everyone.
Teenagers have a great deal of buying power these days. The Mall will lose many sales. Moreover, teens aren't anywhere near as scary as the people that try to get me to try their food samples in the basement Food Court area.
Dude. are u crazy? like all teenagers go to the mall...thats all we do basically. all u so called adults tell kids to stay out of trouble and don't do drugs, but what your doing is more of a reason 2 do it. i mean, this is gonna force teenagers to hang out on the streets with their friends. for whatever reason you're doing this, it's not going to help. things will only get worse. you just watch. you're gonna lose money. no adults will just suddenly start going to the mall. so think about it. you're making the biggest mistake EVER. and if u pass this law then f*** u.
Just because they made the decision doesn't mean it was well thought out. They will likely lose money, but the authorities are probably going to have aweight taken off their shoulders with less people to deal with, and thus pressured the mall into such a decision. Something of the sort I'm sure.
But no, there's no ****ing way they'll make MORE money by kicking out the largest spending group.
For ****s sake.
I think this petition was a good idea because I was almost going to be aloud to go and walk around the mall with my mom there but at different stores. I think the whole law is stupid!
I believe that if you are old enough to get a drivers liscense, have a job, and pay insurance and cell phone bills...why not be able to shop without your mom and dad. I feel its ridiculous that someone under 18 cant go to the mall without an adult, who wants to go shopping with a parent when this is the age we begin to go on our own more. We have school during the weeks and taking the mall away from us on weekends, we will never have time to go. Its absolutely ridiculois that you are going to take away what we love. It is unfair that you would punish all of us with the mistakes of only some people...punish them and kick them out not the ones that go there for a purpose other then harassing. I do inderstand some peopel are complete idiots but we all arent and all shoudl not be punished. I think you should hav stricter rules but not this. Whats the point of having a mall when the we cant even shop by ourselves its where we go to get away from parents and now we have to bring them with us. Please re consider look how many peopel are against this.
this is really silly!I know no one who has ever done anything that desrved this kind of punishment. How many kids just go there to hang out? Most teens go for a perpose, and leave. Not all of us are irrisponsable and we shouldn't all be punished!
Hey NO. Why do you think they are doing this? To lose money? No you moron they have people who would analize what would their potential money lose or gain be from this rule and I'm sure they are going to make out. Holyoke has become one of the seedest malls around and this would change that. Stores there continue to go out of business, is it because so many kids are shopping there? No, it's because adults won't go to the mall to begin with.
16 i think this is unfair because if we are old enough to get jobs and drive we are responsible enough to be in our own mall...Plus us kids dont have anywhere else to go and all we would be doing is causing trouble on the streets...you take this away from us this is almost the last thing we would have...now kids will get into drugs and all this stuff again....do what you want but it wont be a good idea...think about if your kids wanted to go to the mall....but no insteed they have to hang out on the streets because there is nothing for us!
I think this is unfair that we are not allowed to go to the mall between 4 and closing without an adult present. Teens during the weekend like to hang out at the mall or at the movies, if you take the mall we can go to the movies. The mall doesn't understand, I was there yesterday 7/13 and the crowd I saw the most was teens. Once school starts we won't be able to go during the week and will want to go during the weekends, but we can't therefore the mall is just going to lose money. This is your choice Mr. Rogalski, but let me assure you it is a bad one.
u cant do that.the mall is where all the hoes is at then where am i goin to get a quickie from .especially the white girls who know how to grab and glurp.at least eastfield mall still poppin SIIKE
The mall wil not make any more money by taking away the larger spending group. Unless you are in a University town, the majority of the mall business comes from early to mid teens spending money at the mall (food court, clothing outlets, etc). Business will be driven to the outside of the mall. Adults who didnt shop at the mall in the first place, won't decide to SUDDENLY run to the mall. Anyone who thinks that is a ****ing nitwit.
Granted, many kids going to the mall are ****ing retards. This does not mean that all of them are. A large amount are going there to spend money and fuel the business. The other amount of dip****s are just more vocal and thus leave a longer lasting impression. You need to be able to differentiate between this. Also, referring to this demographic as "loser kids" or "wastes of life" is ****ing pathetic, because anyone who happens to be older than 20, YOU GUESSED IT, used to be YOUNGER than 20. You ****ing idiots, when you were kids you would have been pissed off had a large source of your Friday and Saturday night entertainment were cut off. Don't be ignorant ****faces. Go get educated.
Maybe you loser kids should be out playing football rather than wandering the mall. This ban is long overdue, the mall is sick of babysitting you brats.
if the holyoke mall does not let teenagers come on the weekend wat is the point of having a mall? buisnesses will go out and they will not stay in buisness. when i am bored all i can do is call my friends to go shopping and we have fun and spend money there because we cant afford too many other places so i do not agree with this and niether do mostly all of my friends
If we can't go by ourselves, we won't go. The reason why everyone goes to the mall in the first place is to get away from our family. Where are all of the teens going to go, seriously. We don't have rockin rollerskate anymore, it's too much money to go bowling or to the movies. The mall was the only real place where you didn't have to spend money to get in. They shouldn't be punishing us when we didn't do anything. Let the people who shoplift be banned. If I'm old enough to be responsible for myself and drive, pay for insurance, and have job, I think there is no reason why I can't walk around the mall by myself.
I think this is a dumb marketer's idea. Someone is congratulating his/herself on being such a clever idea implementer. Meanwhile, the kids are enraged and I, as a parent, think it's stupid. This is what happens when people's ties cut off the oxygen to their brains.
Teenagers should be at the Mall on weekends -- that is what they do and is an innocent way to spend time. There is little else to do (affordably) in the area -- what do they want teens to do? Sit at home at do drugs because there is no where to go?
i love the mall me and my boy friend go there and in my opinion most of the business is from teenagers any ways i think if the ones who shop lift and get caught should just be ban why take away a teenagers get away with there friends.
that is bullcrap thats not fair to us. i hate going to the mall with my parents and if i have to sometimes i go by myself so i can just buy what i need than leave!
WASTES OF LIFE?! are you serious? you god damn so called "adults" are being more immature than anyone of us kids could be. you think because we're kids we dont want ot spend our own money like you? you must be stupid if you think places like abercrombie and fitch and hollister are going to be shopped at by people like you, we are the majority that buy from those places. are you going adults going ot keep all these businesses going once we arent allowed in the mall? i dont think so, on monday through thursday night those businesses are going to get very little business, because on monday through thursday ngiht i dont think us kids are going to be asking for a ride to the mall to hsop when we have school and sports to worry about.
i am 13 i kno ypung but this is not fair!! kids are a very big part of the hoyloke mall most of the people in there are kids that go shopping to get things for school like clothes and if u ban 17 and younger kids to go there they will end up doing very bad things like ruining the mall so whast the use of taking the mall hours away from us kids we are humans and we have every right to be in the mall! also if other people dont like it well then thats to bad im sure when they were younger they went to the mall alone so why are they so against it now so wat kids cause problems thats doesnt mean take it away from other kids like myself that were brought up right to buy and earn there own money to actually BUY things and if this is taken away we cant go spend what we earned at the mall
Its not unconstitutional. The Holyoke Mall is PRIVATE PROPERTY and they can kick whoever they want out. I think its good they are kicking kids out, frickin wastes of life. I think the mall will still make money even without you losers spending your $5 allowances.
not all teens just go to the mall to hang out, they spend alot of money too. after this passes, the mall will seem like such a dull place. it wont seem social at all. the reputation of the mall will drop and even if they lift the ban, not everyones gonna go back, it wont be the same so its just affecting yourself, us as teens can just find something else to do, even the mall keeps us off the streets. overall its a bad idea.
I believe that the holyoke mall should not have the 18+ law on fridays and saterdays, teenagers to cause problems, but not all of them do. it's part of growing up
This is friggin gay..honestly. No one wants to go shopping with their parents...and they pick the two nights that most teens go shopping on..f*ck the whole thing....cuz its stupid.
I understand the whole idea behind the ban but I believe it's hardly fair. The people who they are attempting to ban are still going to go. Rebelling teens will still be there without there parents, they'll be running and lieing when security comes looking. Which just cause more disruption. Parent's lives are hard enough already, now to have to cart there kids to the mall, or drive seperate with our current gas prices, they'll have to stay with there kids as they walk around all nice. Hell a 12 year old can go to six flags without a parent. What parent is going to want to spend 2 hours in hot topic? Not many. Which will cause kids to be there less, and give less money to stores targeted at those age groups. I remember when I was 17 we used to hang around the mall even AFTER it was closed, the place it still open and running, why can't you be there? Old mall walkers are.
this is completely ridiculous. they will lose soo much business. i mean who is gonna go shopping with their parents? i wont. i'll just go to the eastfield mall. the only reason to go to the holyoke mall is Hollister anyways..... and there are other hollisters.
You kids are all so immature wah wah wah we cant go to the mall. Well you are proving on this forum why they are banning you, because you are all immature, self-absorbed and stupid. The mall isnt going to lose any money, all you frickin kids dont spend any money anyway, except maybe at the Orange Julius stand. They will make more money from the adults you retards scared away.
I think this is BS. I am 17 and I don't think thats right gay this is the gayest thing I have ever heard in my life. if people are so affraid of teenages they shouldn't be at the mall. I think it gay.
Wow this is actually unconstitutional. Haven't they read the part about "right to assemble"...I'll bet someone could take this to court cause I don't think they're legaly allowed to do that. Yup definetly unconstitutional.
If you are serious about overturning this dicision made by the Mall and Pyrimid please send a messege to macww247@hotmail.com Only serious messages please this is an important issue and we should all work together, youth and adults, to get this rule revoked.
Okay, I'm all for supporting the petition about the Holyoke Mall. I've actually already signed. But do you really think that anyone is going to take this seriously if the people signing it are signing it with curses and vulgar language? I don't think so. So please, guys, get serious if you want to be able to have a chance at saving our weekends.
This is ridiculous. I'm 26 and the stupid kids in the Holyoke Mall annoy the hell out of me, but you can't ban them from going. They can drive to the mall with their own license, but can't go in? What's next, if you're over 70 you can't go to the mall because you slow foot traffic down? What happened to free will? Teenagers should start loitering around the mall outside until allowed back in.
Look i practicly live at the mall... i know every employee of every store (well almost) but i think its just retarded that your gonna make a PUBLIC place unpublic... its like saying only mexicans can use the sidewalk or only fat people can go to McDonalds.... WTF is the world comin to when i cant go to the effin mall???
i am 18, and i have friends under 18, and this is BS, why dont you just watch the stores better, and if people are so affraid of teenages they shouldn't be at the mall. the mall is a place that we're supposed to feel welcome and shop and if people are scared of groups of teenagers, wlak by them and dont look at them, they wont hurt you, even if you did look at them. they wont start anything unless you start it.
ok so now by 17 you can go see a rated-R movie but you can't go to the mall after 4 on the weekend? I say we all stand outside the mall and see if they like that any better.
This is the stupidest thing i have ever heard of. This is going to make kids start wanting to skip school just to be able to go to the mall, and this is also gonna make the mall sales go down so it is dumb.
i am 17 years old and i dont see the difference between myself and an 18 year old.i find it insulting that im have to be watched by my parents. if they let me go by myself i should be a blt to. i am not doing anything wrong therefore you have no reason to suspect that i am Also i go to the mall to shop not hang out with my friends, by going to the mall with my friends i am hanging out with them and shopping at the same time.
if the mall owners won't listen - you should take your fight to the mall's tenants - boycott the stores and see how fast the mall changes their mind. if they don't want your money after 4PM on weekends, spend it someplace else...
GET A LIFE MIKE LEMME! WHAT AN IDIOT! How dare! Shame on you! If anyone needs to get a life, it's YOU! Like you don't remember YOUR perfect teenage years! This truly is age discrimination at it's best! I am a 50 yr. old parent of 2 teenagers who go to meet their friends regularly at the mall (thankfully not YOUR mall) and I would NEVER consider escorting them! This is truly an outrage and age discrimination!
I don't think that it is fair that we are not allowed to go to the Holyoke Mall with out parental supervision. A lot of us are old enough to drive and we can drive ourselves to the mall but we can't go in because we are under 18. It's not our fault that some kids went and ruined the mall for us all. I don't know about the other kids but I don't go to the mall just to hang out my friends and I go to the mall to go shopping and if we can't do that because of some other loser kids then thats not fair.
It looks like this petition is a win for the mall and a loss for those under 18. Just look at what the majority of you are writing about … violence, vulgarity, and sex. And where the heck did you kids learn to spell? No wonder mall owners and the majority of mall patrons want you kids out. Have you tried reading a book?
Hey Kevin,
Anytime you want to get together let me know. Everyone loves a good cock in their ass every once in a while. I'll be waiting for you at Filene's
This is ridiculous! A few people act inapropriately and everyone gets punished!? What a wonderful example this is to all of our young adults on problem solving - if a fraction of an issue appears to be a challenge, let's just eliminate the entire issue. If this is an example of today's management's ability to solving problems, I pray our young people will grow up to be much better thinkers.
