Our culture has forgotten to be thankful for the people who, although they don't earn a paycheck, they contribute immessurably to our society. Many forms force Homemakers to list themselves as "unemployed." This makes us feel as though we are less important, and are taken for granted. You can't even make a freakin Yahoo Profile without listing yourself as "unemployed" (or jobless bum, as most people see the unemployed.) If anything, Homemakers are overly employed. We are short order cooks, dishwashers, dry cleaning services, maids, chauffeurs, tutors, etc, etc, etc. Give us a little credit and call us Homemakers. Help us make that title respectable again.

your considered unemployed becasue you dnt earn a salary or have takes that form anypersonal income you get. Ok before I go on ill say personally I adimire. It take qiuet a bit to keep home life in working order but from an economic stand point the other reason they consider you unemployed is because yu only provide serivces to your family and friends not the economic market as a whole.

i think we should be called domesitc engineers, there are so many jobs we do its pathetic.im raising my kids by myself ,but i have not applied for any kind of government help.the women who choose to stay home to take care of there kids i think should be payed by the government, like a supplimental pay.i in no way can work with one of my children having a kidney disease.women who work i give them great praise because if i could work out of the home i would .i work in my home everyday kepping things in order and like you say butt wiping ,nose wiping cook ,dishwasher and all those other jobs are our daily lives but never seem to be appreciated.

i'm all about having a career myself, but i think it's crappy that you guys don't get the recognition you deserve. i couldn't imagine having to run a household and take care of children day in and day out--to all you homemakers/moms out there, i have mad respect for you!

I say if people can get welfare and stay home to abuse it the gov. should find a way to pay us hard working home makers for our twenty jobs we have at home. I am a tutor, maid, I wipe pooppy butts,I'm a gardener, accountant, dishw asher, chauffer,on call cook,I iron all clothes before they go in the closet and I am also a psycologist that deals with everyone problems. If I had all this on a resume I think I am very qualifyed. If you mention I am a homemaker it all goes out the window.

I've seen all the work my wife does every day to keep our home running smoothly. The last thing anyone could call her is unemployed... Carrot Top - now HE'S unemployed.

I can't even run a teeny little apartment without trouble...I don't see how homemakers manage to keep entire households running smoothly.

having been a house husband for several months because of lack of daycare options, i too can vouch for the amount of work that it takes to properly keep a home maintained
