On the plus side this stupid and insensitive decision by ABC has freed up an hour a week, because I certainly won't be watching Grey's Anatomy anymore.
I don't understand why ABC is all of a sudden firing people who play lesbians and transgenders on their station. But I do know that I won't be watching Grey's Anatomy or any other show on ABC until they realize how discriminatory they are being.
I support this petition. Step up ABC and let your artists use their art to depict reality. The reality is this: LGBT people exist and have lives. Interesting ones that make for good TV.
Congratulations for officially being the worst-run show on television, Grey's. Isaiah Washington's homophobic slurs, T.R. Knight's forced outtings, ongoing bickering with Katherine Heigl and now the very talented Brooke Smith gets the boot. Way to be jerks.
I support this petition. Erica Hahn was my favorite character and I thought the relationship between Callie and Erica had great chemistry and potential. I think the way this has been handled by ABC and Shonda Rhimes is shameful and offensive. I will no longer be watching Grey's Anatomy.
I cannot believe Brooke has been given the boot from the show. She portrays the character of Erica so brilliantly. It's amazing how she can be so harsh, yet can also be so vulnerable. Plus the dynamic between her and Callie was great. I've always loved the show, but having Brooke in it and having Erica and Callie together just made it so much more. Getting rid of her character is a huge mistake, especaally the manner in which it was done. Please bring back Brooke Smith as Erica Hahn!!!!!
I planned on writing a whole essay (so to speak) about this, but I decided not to. It would most likely be very rude and that would help nobody; so I'm just going to say: I support this petition!
Just because you wont say the real reason you fired her, because you know you will get slapped with a discrimination lawsuit, doesn't mean we don't know the real reason.

I find it a travesty that ABC should dismiss such a fine actress as Brooke Smith in the manner in which they did. Ms. Smith uprooted her life and family for her role as Dr. Erica Hahn on Grey's Anatomy and she certainly deserved far more respect than she was given by ABC or the powers that be at Grey's Anatomy. I am quite simply outraged!
I support this petition. I am sickened that a company would remove a character from a show purely based on the sexual preference written for them. If this was done in an actual workplace to a real lesbian then you would be looking at a court case.

I support this petition. I hope that ABC will change their mind, reinstate Brooke Smith, and allow Grey's Anatomy to play out the storyline with Callie and Erica. They had excellent chemistry, the pace of the storyline was well portrayed, and these actors deserve the opportunity to continue their characters' explorations and growth.
